I was riding around I dropped down to 3rd gear and accelerated and nothing happened it just kind of sounded like it sucked air in and kind of a pop. It did not rev up so it did not slip. Nothing happened just kind of a pop and a little jerk. I let go of throttle and tried again and it worked normal. This is the 2nd time it has happened in the last month. Anyone had this problem or any other input? Thank you |

Have you been denoided? |

If it was while in third at around 5000 rpm then it's most likely the noid. It's an easy fix. Do a forum search to see how. |

Avoid the noid! Get the Erik Buell Racing ecm anyway. Avoids the noid and runs right. |

Denoided? Not sure what you mean? |

In your bike under the seat is a silver cylinder. It controls a secondary set of butterflies. I think it's an emissions thing. In certain situations it actuates the secondary butterflies and interferes with air flow. Denoiding is removing the cylinder, zip tying the butterflies together and installing a resistor in the noids socket to fool the ECM into thinking it's there. $8 part and 10min job. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/490767.html |

Forget the $8 plug. Buy the Eric Buell Racing ECM from Erik Buell Racing. It will electrically eliminate the TB solenoid. If you have other than the stock exhaust, tell Erik Buell Racing what you have and they will tune the ECM for that specific exhaust. |

oh where can i get the $8 part? HD dealers sell them, and so does Al at American Sport Bike (sponsor). The Erik Buell Racing ECM doesn't activate the solenoid and is a good use of $250.. |

Do the ecm. Best $$$ you can spend. R |

Ben - "The "noid" is a solenoid(Active Air Intake Solenoid) that when in 3rd gear, a WFO at ~5800rpm(IIRC) will fire the noid and CLOSE the throttle butterflies. It was to pass EPA noise limits. You should at the least, disconnect the short cable going from the noid to the throttle linkage. Then tie the 2 throttle plates together with a zip-tie or safety wire. You get an easier throttle pull and no more Shut-down surprises. Tying the plates together gives you smooth throttle up near red-line. Without tying, the butterflies will "flutter" at the top and you will lose the last little bit of power you have there. As said, welcome to the madness. Zack |

If you roll on the throttle a little more smoothly and slowly it won't kick in. Either way, get the Race ECM, problem solved. |

Thanks for the info everyone! I have an fmf pipe and k&n. I think ill just cough up the cash for the EB ECM it seems like everyone is liking it anyway. I kind of searched for the ECM where is it in this bike, anyone have a pic of it? |

Left pod, 6 torx screws, then 1 nut, 2 electrical connectors, one is black, the other is gray. 10 minute job to swap one out. |

With the pipe and the K/N you REALLY need the ecm. Tell Erik Buell Racing your set-up w/pipe and filter. You'll be amazed. |

this is why froggy gets 50mpg from a 25R... LOL I have a landcruiser which makes me happy to get 28mpg - screw "roll on the throttle"! hehehe - no hypermiling here. |

As someone who spends a lot of time near red line, I'm not convinced this is the case. There's a pretty stiff spring on those throttle bodies holding pressure against the pulls the 'noid used to close the butterflies. I don't think mine are tied... I've never noticed an issue with power at red line other than hitting the limiter. |

Jim If yours AREN'T tied, try it. Might gain you some milliseconds. I've seen artifacts on dyno sheets to suggest it's true. Nothing conclusive, just a (hopefully educated) WAG at this point. Z |

Well, I can assure you it's not a major thing, even if it's true, because I've gone a couple of seasons of beating on mine without an issue. But, ya, know, it DOESN'T HURT. There's no downside other than the cost of a zip-tie to bind them. So, next I'm i'm up in there I'll do it... I had to pull a new crankcase breather last weekend.. shoulda done it then. |
