Anyone know if I can do it WITHOUT removing the front wheel? I'm on a road trip and was thinking about having American Sport Bike ship a set of pads to my destination. No way to lift the front end or removal axle. If I can not do it without removing the wheel ill have to suck it up and hit a Harley dealer Thanks! |

You can remove the caliper without dropping the wheel. In my wheel swap video I do exactly that. Might be a titch tricky if you have the OEM brake line. Loosen the pin hangers before you drop the caliper. Tighten them to spec one you have rehung it. |

I tried it on a friends '08 the other day but the stock line was to short to allow the caliper to drop past the mounting post on the fork. So we ended up dropping the front wheel |

It wouldn't be much effort to simply loosen the MC and let the line slide a bit... |

That is true I didn't think about that. Removing the mc and letting it drop down to clear the the caliper from the mount should give plenty of clearance. Good call Jdugger +1 |

Worst case, disconnect the brake line, do the pads, then bleed the brakes after reassembling it. |

How about a pair of small ratchet straps. Pull the forks down far enough to be able to drop the caliper under the disc. Kinda like what some of the drag racers do. Mike |
