Picked up a 99 X1 a few days ago for a great price. It had just over 8200 Miles on her when I got her. Had an O2 sensor issue but that was an easy fix. Ive been trolling the archives for some time now and I still have a few questions. Some Specifically about the bike and some just general tuber questions. X1 Lightning Racing Stripe Edition? Not too sure about this whole thing. I know they made them in 2 color schemes. What all makes it a "Racing Stripe" bike? Is it just color scheme? Added performance? I have no Idea. Any Certain VIN designation to show its an original racing stripe? I do know it has the Buell pro Series muffler but is that header the race header also? It has a American Sport Bike filter setup, but was there a performance filter stock to the Racing stripe edition? Should it have came with Race ECM? Rumors of Serial numbers on the fuel filler cap? Wheels supposed to be white instead of black? They guy I bought it off of has a whole box of parts for it also. Not sure whats all there though. I really need to pick it up and see whats all there. All in all not a bad deal for helping out a friend when he is in a tight spot. He knows I'll treat her right. Any help would be great guys. Thanks

It would have not come with the Race ECM from the factory. No added performance with the "racing stripe" package. Those are probably the stock wheels. The wheels usually matched the frame which looks black from the picture. You have the stock header on there. The racing header has slightly longer tubes. As far as serial numbers, I may be wrong on this but I was thinking only the red stripe edition was serialized. Good looking bike. |

muffler looks to be a supertrapp... not a buell race can. Header is stock. Pegs are the buell pro pegs. I dont know alot about the race stripe package bikes, but i only think the 2000 silver millennium edition bikes had the serialized gas caps (but i could be wrong). welcome and nice looking bike! |

The exhaust doesn't look like a supertrapp to me. Doens't it say Buell on it, or am I misreading that? Buell OEM'd s Buell Race slipon from Supertrapp, but I don't think that's one of them. |

looking back it does look like it says buell faintly on the side... the back end of that muffler looks identical to my supertrapp. The buell race can i am used to seeing is really short. like this

There was a pro series slipon for the stock header. The info I have says it comes with 4 inch tunning discs and end cap. Sounds like a Supertrapp but with Buell Pro Series logo on it instead of Supertrapp logo. |

Purpony, If you have that old model supertrapp, watch very carefully for signs that it is coming apart at the front. They recalled those and replaced them with the supertrapp branded version of the Buell Pro series exhaust (that supertrapp made for Buell). I was able to get mine replaced, but they took so long getting me the new one, I bought a D&D. Sold the Trapp to a friend of mine when it came in. |

When I say "recall" I mean an actual product recall. You should contact them. Who knows, they might have one laying around somewhere. The replacement is built really well, and sounds pretty good too. |

Hoots correct the later style Trapp is stamped Buell Pro Series and has the tapered cone reinforcement on the front inlet.

It is the Buell Pro Series pipe. There are no discs left in it but he may have them still. No serialized gas cap for me. I really want it so that going to be fun to track down. Does anyone know anything about a VIN designation. Id like to try to return it to original form as much as possible if it is a true racing stripe. I appreciate all the usefull info guys. Thanks. |

Well its been verified! It is a true racing stripe edition. No-Rice was able to verify it for me! Thanks Tim! Now the hunt starts for the original gas cap! This is gonna be fun! |

I thought all racing stripe editions wore white frame and wheels, figured that was why your bike didn't have the cap. But the VIN will verify it so I learned something new. I've got some extra Supertrapp disks if you'd like them Nick. Just shoot me your address and I'll drop them in the mail for you. Make sure you check out all the hardware on the muffler, the stuff on my used 'trapp was all used up from not being well maintained, and of course, vibrations. Welcome to the Toober world! |
