11/7/2003 Buell Offers Cash Incentives To Previous Buell Owners, Through Year End From a press release issued by Buell: BUELL CLOSES 2003 WITH "AMERICAN MUSCLE" PROMOTION Buell Motorcycle Company is offering cash incentives to previous Buell owners on new motorcycle purchases for the final two months of 2003. This is a great time to visit your local Buell dealer and buy a new Buell motorcycle at participating dealerships around the country. Buell is offering prospects who visit participating U.S. Buell dealers a free "American Muscle" t-shirt with no purchase obligations. Downloadable coupons are available on the Buell web site and all prospects have to do is take the coupon to their dealer and have the dealer apply their business stamp. Then prospects mail-in the coupon to receive the t-shirt. This offer is good while supplies last. Approximately 36,000 existing Buell owners will receive a private offer cash incentive coupon by mail, an additional incentive redeemable for $500 cash with the purchase and delivery of any new Buell Lightning or Firebolt motorcycle from a participating dealer, Nov. 1-Dec. 31, 2003. No down payment financing is available to all qualifying customers and can be combined with the $500 cash incentive. For more information go to www.buell.com or visit a participating Buell dealership.

They gave $500 in clothing and other incentives in the past to anyone purchasing a new Buell. If they wanted to attract the faithful tubers make the incentive $1,500, then install the race kit and I'd be there tomorrow morning. -JW:> |

Cash incentive...Must be the current term for a rebate that is not available to the general public. Wonder what a first time Buell purchaser will get? Thought the concept was to retain existing and get new customers. Hmmm...Must have been an erroneous thought. LOL edited by nevco1 on November 08, 2003 |

First they have to get the dealer to pick up the phone and take one minute to call this three time Buell buyer to tell him the bikes are in. Whatever. |

Hmmm...wonder if that will happen in Milwaukee. Don't think any of the HD/Buell dealers have a dedicated Buell Manager or Salesperson any more. The only one I was aware of left the biz before the 20th and have had no announcement of a replacement yet. Gee, and to think this is going on in HD's home town. Sure hope I am wrong on this. |

S1joel I did call ya when I got that pretty black one. When are you gonna come and get it. BTW I know you are talking about another dealer. I am just pulling your chain. Why is everybody so quick to look at $500 as a crappy thing. Jim witt so what you are really saying is you want $2000 ..... What we want and what we get in this world are 2 different things. I want angelina jolie but....well she did marry billy bob so she does like weird rednecks I guess...oh well I am just dreaming |

The same people who bitched and moaned when Buell did nothing seem, on cue, ready to bitch that they didn't do enough. Go to your local foreign motojoy shop and do snag the best deal you can get. Buell got the reliability thing dialed in. Is hard at work on the internet component (watch for upcoming developments) and is gearing up to wrangle the dealer monster. Kudos, say I! |

COURT! Stop that incessant teasing. If I had a patch I would fine you twenty. What can they do with this dealership mess... hire DaveS and Fubba to train the whole world? They better be prepared to pay cause those guys won't leave here easily.... would they? |

Wasn't whining about the cash incentive for existing Buell owners. Was teasing about what they will do to attract new riders to the fold. |

Tripper: Actually the "Dave and Bubba" thing is (the "thing", not them) part of the problem. Think of it as a head shot versus a center of mass. Buell needs to deal in the CENTER, with the "normal" dealership and raise their abilities. Not all can aspire to the top 10%. The challenge is not to create 5 GREAT dealers, but rather 100 GOOD dealers. Court |

They're not trying to attract new riders with this one, they're trying to recapture or retain existing ones. Stop and chew on that concept for a bit. Why exactly would a company want you to "upgrade"? And if they had something comparable in form/fit/function to my current bikes that fit my desired parameters then maybe I'd be interested if it also happened to fit my budget at the same time, but if it doesn't fit then it doesn't matter anyway. Hmmm, wound up with some jade at an auction recently, hope it isn't starting to affect me. |

If we couldn't get him to eat the refried beans with his Kringles I doubt very much that you'll get him to spill any. |

I think the keep some old customers might mean that: 1. Buell (or HDI) has recognized that the XB series is attarcting new buyers to the fold in sufficient percentages that they can afford to do somthing nice for existing owers, and 2. Buell (HDI) recognizing that happy long-term owers are a great sales tool actually, an approx 5% discount at bad . . . . specially in a HD dealership! |

If they really want to do something... they can make the two year warranty retroactive to all 2003 XBs purchased. That would make me happy!!! |

Dave and Fubba...Yep, Spidey would make a great addition to the dealer training team. Fantastic positive mental attitude, et al. Just don't let him teach the finer points of BattleTrax unless you are trying to generate income for the service department (read: bodyshop). |

1.a - existing owners are not trading in? just a thought. I don't think I know an XB owner from my old group of S-series owning friends. Most of the XB owners I have met are somewhere between 25-35 and somewhat mature, but younger than the old farts I run with. KCFirebolt is an exception. He was born old. |

I taken in a few older Buells for a new XB! No, we would not have Spidey do the BattleTrax training part of the program. I would probably have my boss Doug make a special appearance to do that part! Or maybe Sam from KC. Ride to the edge! Dave Iowa HD/Buell (Buell Cycle Center) |

Why trade the tuber in when you finally get it set up the way you want it and have to go through the hassle all over again? LOL Actually, with the exception of the wheelbase and unsprung weight features, the specs on my modified and upgraded for reliability X1 are still slightly better than the stock XB12's and it fits a whole lot better. Won't even bother with the concept of an occasional passenger. |

Dave, Probably the T-shirt Deal as I've just bought a 2001. Your from the shop in Waterloo? My Mom lives in Albert Lee, So I passed that way (I-35 anyway) on my way. I live in Nebraska. I have a really great H-D shop here, but they're not to up on the Buell scene. I'll swing by sometime to check out your shop. g u s |
