Well, the XB12R arrived today in the back of a big ol' semi trailer. Damn it's a beautiful motorcycle. So far the only trouble I have with it is the same trouble I have with my Mach 1... EVERYONE looks. I hate that. At least in the Mach I can tint the windows . I have a smoked Zero G double bubble, but it doesn't quite have the same effect . At any rate... So far (52 miles) I can't actually remember giving the bike any input other than throttle except for when going really slow. It just seems to know EXACTLY what I want and just seems to do it just about the same time I make up my mind. Freakin excellent. My girlfriend is a little worried for her first place status I think. She probably has good reason . The first thing I noticed (in the first 100') was that it felt like I may as well have my wrist connected to the tire in some way... Instant throttle response. As I said, about the time I make a decision it just seems to happen. I seems as if everything between my mind and the rear wheel may as well be a formality... I did about 20 miles or so with a friend on a Bandit 400. I was doing slow roll-ons from about 50-65 or so in fifth gear (Not lugging the engine really, just slow roll-ons) using a max of about 1/4-1/3 throttle. My friend told me he was having trouble keeping up with them. I didn't have the heart to tell him how much throttle I had left or that I was in fifth. The torque... Holy Cripes on Toast. It's there. <--- Notice the period. I think I like Aramid reinforced Hibrex belts with Flexten Plus technology. A slightly goosed throttle in second at about 2500RPM's produces instantly satisfying results. I can't wait until I get done with break in. I've only ridden a couple street bikes, but I can tell with certainty that this one likes to turn. I haven't even laid it over hardly at all yet but you can just feel the rear tire "slot in" (I'll call it...) in a very confidence inspiring way. Anyone else notice that the dim light seems to be "hooded" in some fashion?? Is there a way to aim that up just a tad? There are a lot of residential roads around here that are quite like a roller coaster track. Maybe I'll get used to it, but I like to be able to see a bit further ahead at night. Even when I'm only doing ten to fifteen miles per hour. The brights seem to be fine, maybe I'll just use them more often. At any rate.. Thanks Erik and Company. Thanks Dave. Thanks Brad. Congratz on the new scoot. try getting the switch in the middle for the brights/dim - you can get them both to come on at once. See if that helps --Austinrider |

See if that helps --Austinrider" Actually when you switch to high beam on a Firebolt both of the lights come on, they are setup different than the Lightnings. This was discussed earlier in a thread, I'll have to see if I can find it. Craig

Yes, they both come on. It's just that I don't want to blind someone that's already headed towards me on a narrow road, and I don't wan't to let go of the left grip with even one finger at slow speed on a roller coaster track road with pine needles ALL OVER it. I read through the owners manual last night and it says that the procedure to adjust the headlights is in the service manual. I'll take a look. |

Nice. Now let's see some candids with the double bubble. I am considering a taller windshield today's chilly late afternoon NY ride. May I repeat that the Gerbing jacket liner is like butta'. |

He he, maybe an Ass Kickin' Buell Pic with a 12-guage shotgun . I'll probably leave the rifle pic up though, I really like that shotgun. Too bad I had to sell it to get the Buell... I'll get another though, that was my second. I may replace my H&K USP .40 first though, we'll see. There's just something beautiful about pulling eight 3" 12-guage 00 rounds before the first shell hits the ground. That's 120 9mm projectiles at ?3500FPS? in under 1 second, and next to no aiming involved . Benelli's ROCK! The only drawback is that the rifle weighs under 7lbs dry and kicks like a friggin mule. The trigger is nearly as good as a Colt Python too . |
