Good thing I didn't do the 12k myself. Folsom HD has always been really good to me. They once took a stator off of a bike in the showroom just to get me back on the road before I had to deploy. Last week I dropped the bike off for the valve check by itself, no other portions of the service included (do them myself) and they quoted "about $300". This morning they called and said that there are very unusual marks on my cams- more so on the exhaust side. Still under warranty so they will be voluntarily replacing them. Hopefully they can get it done by the 18th, that's when I hit the road on the bike for a month in San Antonio. Thumbs up Folsom HD! |

I had the hard-facing come off my original 08 bike on one of the cams as well. Haven't has the issue on either of the other bikes that I know of. |

$300 for the valve check/adjustment? That sounds pretty reasonable considering that rotating the motor is required. If the closest Buell dealer was in town instead of an hour away, and if they quoted $300 for the 6K valve adjustment, I'd strongly considering paying to have it done instead of doing it myself. |

Skipfordyce HD in Riverside quoted me $500 plus materials just to check the valves and an additional $400 if an adjustment was required. So, while I have nothing but good things to say about their service personnel, their prices are way to high for my blood! If I could get a quote for $300 I would jump on it. |

Thats cheap, adamec harley in jacksonville couldnt actually find the right price, so he told me, oh well its probably alot like a vrod and that around 900 bux. My jaw hit the ground quite hard, as i laughed my way out the door. |

Local dealer is quoting me 2 hours for the service, 5 hours for rotating the engine. 7 hours x $90/hour = $630 plus parts and taxes (13% in Ontario). I'll be lucky to get out of there for $850. Would try to do it myself, but I just don't have the facility to do keep the bike apart for that long... |

So, back to the cams. Is yours an '08. Has anyone seen this before? |

The quote invoice reads 3.5 hours. The Guy at the counter said that the tech had just finished replacing spark plugs on an 1125 and took 2.25 hours start to finish including rotating the motor, so 3.5 seemed reasonable. My bike is an 09, just shy of 12k miles. Apparently cams take 7 days to ship so I might not have it back in time to travel. Fingers are crossed. |

At my 12k - 2 years ago, 2008(Nov07) 1125R - warranty replaced cam and follower.
Just did the 25k a few months ago, all was good. Replaced 6 of 8 shims, all clearances mid-loose now. Z |

Zac, I remember that post. First question i asked when they told me about the came was are they pitted? My warranty expires next month, I'll be doing the next valve check for sure. Just glad they did the first! |

And Folsom comes through again. Cams are on the way from another California dealer. Supposed to arrive today and bike should be done on Tuesday. |

> I hope this is a 1 off cam problem It's not common to my knowledge, but a few bikes have had the facing come off. Mine looked just like Zach's, only not as severe. |
