I just got back from a wee camp with the Uly through the San Rafael Swell in Utah. Very nice there. |

I think that's the same tent I got before Daytona. Nice setup. Fits great inside (!) my 52l topcase |

I just got back from a wee camp with the Uly through the San Rafael Swell in Utah. Has it finally warmed up/dried out in Utah? I set out for Moab on May 19, hit two blizzards in Colorado and made it as far as Monticello, UT. Cold, wet, and miserable all the time I was up there. --Doc |

I've seen that tent(redverz) before. I think it's a great idea, plus you could hang out in that space with a small picnic table if you got an all day rain or something. But it is pretty heavy, 13 lbs. |

Yeah, was warming up during my trip. Moab was nice the way out towards Durango, CO. Was 100 in Moab on Sunday when I passed through it on the way home to SLC. Still scattered rains here and there seems like. |

Is this the Eureka! ? It's the ONE picture I got from my crappy, way too short, Daytona trip this spring (yes...I was there...for...oh...about six hours...overnight...in the rain).

Joe, That's it! If rain is not included you aren't allowed to log it as an official camping trip...it looks like mine will be official... On the road at 11:30...I love Friday! |

Well mine definitely counted. Single shot, Frederick to Daytona, through "storm warning" weather from SC to the destination. Ride onto the grounds at the track. Dude at the gate takes pity, no fee at all. Here's yer sticker, have a good night. Now...this is a tent I have not had out of the bag. Ever. No idea how to set it up. It's raining. Hard. And its dark. And I just rode 14 hours nonstop (besides fuel). And actually? I was pretty impressed at how quick and easy the tent went up! I'd say it was comfortable, too, for airflow and space...but I'd have slept well on the banks of turn three I was so tired. |

I personally prefer tents that are large enough for two people and that my feet and head are no where near the tent side walls. That way the wind doesn't flap me awake all night long. Plus there is plenty of room to bring in the gear for security and use in a dry environment. |

I'm with EG on this. Aside from what he mentioned, I frequently flop around like a fish on a hot sand bank while I am supposed to be asleep. I even go a step further. I do a double tent thing that has multiple benefits. My outer tent is an 8x11, the one I stuff inside is a 7x9. This gives a full insulating, leak protective air gap. I have seen many times at March Badness, when it is wet, and the temps drop into the forties at night, that I am still pretty comfy, where I have seen others complain about all of their stuff being wet and cold, and they cannot find a dry spot anywhere. I can unzip the inner tent to feel a drop in temperature between the inner and outer, then the cold hits when I unzip the outer one. It does take more room than one you can fit in your sock, but what the heck, I'm going camping after all. Both tents fit in the large one's carry bag, and I put that and any other camping stuff that does not fit in the hard bags, inside a heavy duty 55 gal can liner. It lays across the pilon and works as a back rest. It is always dry when I arrive to get set up. |
