I too have a grinding trans problem. When I go to put my bike in 1st from neutral and let the clutch out it grinds. It has been doing this for the past few months. As my blast is my only transpo (now) I have been starting it in first to get around this. My bike has 19,630mi on it right now. I have just finished the shifter pawl(was haveing a real hard time getting into 5th), primary, and clutch adjustments (following the directions in here). Btw, What is the min for the shifter pawl adjustment? I understand that the max is .335" I tapped them all in to about .292" As a little background info, I am the third owner of this wonderful little machine, the second owner did little with it. He told me that when he got it it did not run, all he really did was get it running and then it sat for maybe 6 mo. at which time I bought it. I have had it for about 6 years now. I used to be registered here under a different screen name ( I have since lost the pw for it.) Sorry for such a long post. Thanks in advance, 'D' |

A firm quick foot, a blip of the throttle, and quick engagement of the clutch usually works, the first shift into first is always a loud clunk, then the rest of the day its smoother. How is your primary fluid level and what are you using? EZ |

Right now I am using Valvoline 75-90 synthetic. 1 quart. I just refilled it yesterday after the shifter pawl adjustment. |

Is the level at the teeth - if low, it will have less of a friction zone making it harder to shift - to high and you can have clutch slippage. EZ |

As far as can tell, it is at the teeth. I put in 1 quart/ 32 ounces......most of the posts here stated that the primary should be filled with 30-32 ounces of fluid. |

Gearheaderiko, thanks. Yes, Valvoline does make a synthetic 70-90. Ez, I will be sure to read the label on the bottle looking for sulfates. If there is do you guys have any recogmendations for trans fluid? Btw I have been reading up on the archives here and I must say that I am reeeeaallly liking the look of the bikes that Mac Motorcycles has been putting together. I read they are willing to sell kits??? Sweet!!! Where can I find the prices for that? I have not been able to find the price list on their site. Is there a price break for no paint, no wheels.... All I am wanting is the frame, swingarm, tank, clip-ons, and rear hugger. I figure everything else I can rob off my Blast. |

Use the same oil you use in your engine! Probably when they get their 1st bike done. EZ |
