Considering parting ways with my baby, a 2006 XB12Ss - Lightning 'Long.' ~10,000 miles. I am the second owner - got it with 1200 +/- miles on it in the spring of '06 and its been babied ever since. Garage kept during the riding season, stored in my house during the winter (gotta keep my baby warm!). Shortly after I got it I installed the Buell Race Kit (Ceramic coated muffler, Race ECM and Air Filter). Also added different rims - replaced the ugly (IMO) orange/gold rims with black powder coated rims with a polished lip (they are early XB rims that were powder coated black but the polished lip was left (OEM was silver painted with a polished lip). At this time I also took off the stock tank emblems and put on chrome ones to match the rims. Pirelli Diablo Strada tires have no more than 500-700 miles on them (I'll try to figure out exactly how many). If you start putting major miles on it soon it probably needs some new brake pads and spark plugs - both easy jobs, but otherwise thats all I can think of to tell you it might need in the nearer future. As I mentioned, I don't think it has ever spent a night outside (at least since I owned it) and honestly I think I got stuck in one quick shower where the roads didn't even get completely wet, otherwise it has never even seen rain!!! It has small surface scratches here and there typical of a used bike, but nothing too obvious and ugly, just normal use. Probably nothing you would notice unless you were looking closely. I have never dropped the bike, never raced the bike or otherwise beat it. I ride with a bunch of HD's that putt-putt around, and I frankly don't have the riding experience or the death wish to drive like a maniac/do wheelies, etc. So rest assured, this bike isn't a beaten piece - it has been ridden and maintained quite responsively. I've maintained it myself with HD 20W-50, later changing to Mobil 1 Synthetic V-Twin 20W-50 and HD Formula +, changing each quite frequently - usually because of time lapse, not mileage as I just don't have much time to ride any more. Unfortunately I was diagnosed with cancer last winter, and have been managing work, chemo, surgeries, and life since then and sadly my riding time has suffered. I'm thinking I could use money in the bank right now more than the Buell, so I guess... The bike really has been great, always starts and rumbles like a beast - bringing a smile to my face each time! I'm really sad to sell it, but gotta do these things some time. When I was single and footloose it made sense, but now unfortunately maybe its time for someone else to enjoy it for years to come! Looking for $5,500. Its located outside of Bangor, Maine, but if you are serious and would give me a deposit I could potentially work out meeting a bit further south (timing/health, etc depending) if that would make it a more doable deal for someone. There are a few cars that I might consider a trade for, but probably cash is what I'm looking for.
