It was recommended to me, by a mechanic that is top notch, that I should install a Power Commnader to my 99 S3 to get a smoother and better power band. To date it has the Race ECM, Breather upgrade and a SuperTrapp exhaust. I was just wondering if it is worth installing. Any pro/cons would be appreciated. |

If you already have ECMspy, why not spend the money on a good tune? Spend the same, if not less, and have MORE power |

Not worth installing. Compromises the factory harness. The ECU learns its way around the compensation you entered into the power commander. You should be fine with the race ECU. You should be even more fine if you have it dyno tuned as mentioned above. |

Forget the PC and spend the money on a subscription to a newspaper that has the Dear Abby column as she probably knows more about DDFI then the mechanic. (Message edited by Jramsey on June 02, 2011) |

Wait wait...what's step 4? Screw you guys, I'm going home. Oh yeah, and...if anyone wants a power commander, I have one in a box in my garage. Yours for shipping. I've been trying to give it away for years. |

I have one if you want to try it. I took it off of my 99 S3. Fifty Bucks, as is. |

Thanks for the responses, kind of figured that the ECM Spy was the way to go. Ordered one a while age, just need to take the time to look it over and see how to work it. I have always been a bit leery of PC's, hear to many negatives associated with them. http://www.gomotorcycling.org |

Gomo, nothing wrong with a PC,folks did not understand the Buell"learned fuel" area and fiddled in it which of course screwed up their whole map. I use PCs all the time on a ton of bikes and love them. There are a ton of bikes that there is NO other option for tuning.Have an 1125 here at shop with a PC-V that works great. Now if you can go in and tune the stock ECU--Buell with ECM-Spy, Triumph with Tune-ECU,Hayabusas with Tune-Edit, etc that is certainly better and cheaper. |
