I'll try that fix.Hmmmm? scratching head I paid $63.80 yesterday for the cap(properly keyed)/w o-ring. I also replaced the outer ring($21.95) which i pried against with a screw driver to remove my stuck cap last Saturday. And the 8 screws at $2.25 each. The rubber boot inside the filler was brittle as well.Yep...$12.95 Edit: I also should mention, mine failed when i forced the turn screw against it's stop in the wrong direction removing it CW i broke it dum-dum Brand new OEM at my local dealer(sponsor here).Call Tripp (Message edited by ducxl on June 02, 2011) |

THE BLACK PART ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CAP THAT TURNS TO RELEASE THE CAP FROM THE BUNG ROUNDED OUT WHER THE STEM GOES THROUGH. THERE IS 2 FLATS WHERE THE STEM COMES THROUGH AND THE FLATS ROUNDED SO YOU CAN TURN THE STEM ALL YOU WANT BUT WILL NOT RELEASE...REAL PIA WHEN YOU NEED GAS! |

Give Eric a call at BAT Inc. The caps are Newton Aero 400 series. I just bought the bottom plastic (the piece that wears out) for $20. See info here http://www.batinc.net/aero.htm page 7 of the .pdf catalog. Jeff |

Well, my 3rd cap got stuck and broken - tried the JB Weld method, tried cutting a stainless washer to fit the pin and then JB Weld - both short term fixes. I had given up using a "Buell" cap and was going to replace it with a simple hinged type cap, stumbled across Aero caps by Googling "120MM gas cap". Eric at BAT took the time to track down the part for me. He had not had to find this part before, never had a problem with them using a flat gasket. I will probably ditch the rubber funnel and just use a flat gasket this time. It keeps shrinking no matter the amount of gas I keep in the tank. Jeff |

i made a tab washer with spikes on it, then spot welded it onto the shaft/nut, the heat melted the spikes into the plastic, locking everything in place. you have to be quick with the welding and throw it in a bucket of water as soon as its done. Its a bit risky but worked for me. |

RIGHT ON Rempss!!!!!!!!! Thanks for finding the parts supplier. Good job man. I'll be ordering a new lower and O-ring tonight! I was able to fix my stripped unit with a lock-washer and some 3M Scotch-Weld, epoxy adhesive tube kit, 1838 B/A green. the fuel doesent break it down and its strong stuff. we use it as a structural adhesive on our helicopters with very good results. |
