Time for a rear tire. What is the widest I can go on a PM wheel? I know there are threads on this. I tried using the "search", but couldn't seem to get it to work. Thank you |

Nothing bigger than a 180 otherwise it will handle like garbage. |

Yeah I did a 180/55/17 on my PMs, fit well, handled great, looked good. (Message edited by andymnelson on May 31, 2011) |

A 180 will miss the belt by *this* much. I don't know about a 190. |

i run a 190/55 to drop my cruising rpms a bit for my road trip. It makes the bike more sluggish, and the rear steers and steps out a bit more... but pretty damn fun on downhills. |

I have always run a 180 on mine. |

180 is definitely the correct size. But a 190, and even in some cases (depending on the manufacturor) even a 200 will fit... |

These are Diablo Strada, left is a 180, right is 170, both on PM wheels. The one mounted on the bike is off the ground, it isn't actually that much taller. (Message edited by essmjay on May 31, 2011) |

stock wheel is .5" narrower than PM wheel. 170 fits much better. |

i had a 190 with chain drive on 95 s2 and it barely missed. i went to a 180 and it was just fine and now i went with the 170 and it seems to handle the best... like a new bike... a 200 will hit the chain... a buddy tried it and wish he didnt (waste of money and couldnt return tire...) i dunno bout these sized with a belt, never had one on a buell... always had chains... the chains will dig your swingarm by the way... |

A 170 will give better handling than a bigger tire. I think most riders who fit larger tires do it for the fat tire look. |
