I have some questions on the Barker exhaust as well. And since the archives aren't really active, I'll start a new thread on this.. Please don't hate me for it. I just bought my 1125CR and really want to open it up with a Barker and an Erik Buell Racing chip. But there is one side note, the noise. I really love it, but the authorities in Holland and especially Germany (where I really love to ride) don't, so I'm thinking of riding it with the 1" QC insert, especially for long trips through Germany. I think I'll ride it in Holland -where I live- without the QC though. My main question is, what does a Barker do in terms of noise with the QC fitted? On the website they claim just 94db (versus 103db without), which could be plausible, but under what conditions? Also I read the American Sport Bike exhaust shootout in which they claim the Barker makes approx 107db, under static 5000rpm or so (without QC of course). Slightly more noise than stock is fine, but I really don't want to look behind my back all the time for the (especially German) police. They don't just give you a ticket, no... You can leave the bike behind if you can't fix it immediately... My second question is what specification Erik Buell Racing chip should I run? In my opinion it is fine to let the Erik Buell Racing chip tune to a Barker without QC. Because the QC only makes the bike run a bit richer, which is not a real problem. The other way round, an Erik Buell Racing chip tuned for a QC will make the bike run lean when the QC is not fitted, in my opinion this is worse than running a bit rich. Am I correct on this? Are there any experiences? |

i'd just run it with hte QC in place. for the above reasons you've mentioned. after a while, the volume will get annoying to you too |

Stock exhaust with a race ECM. More power and still the quietest. |

No thanks. I just don't like the way the stock exhaust looks and sounds... Eh... Well.. Doesn't sound at all.... I can only hear my airbox rumble and the engine rattle, no exhaust sound at all imho. My last bike (supermoto) had a full titanium Akrapovic Evolution exhaust system, which was obviously to loud... But I just loved the way it sounded! The Barker's exhaust caught my eye because of the combination of looks/price/sound and power. Without the QC it is one of the "quietest" after market exhausts for the 1125, so I just want to know what noise levels it creates with the QC in. Is it WAY more than stock, or is it acceptable. According to the website it should be acceptable, but I would like to hear that from some Barker owners or people who have ever experienced a Barker. |

I wanted to see how loud a Barker could get. I tried NO packing and NO QC. That was way too loud. The local police gave me a warning with that setup. As a point of reference, my 96S1 has a D&D megaphone with no packing. I ordered a 1 inch quiet core and the packing the next day. When it arrived I put the quiet core in and left the packing out. I have been riding with the QC only for several months, no troubles and good sound. I am very happy with the 1 inch QC. |

I've got the biggest (least restrictive) quiet core in my Barker and it's still easily the loudest bike I've owned. I had an SV1000S with a Yosh 3/4 "race" system and the quiet core removed and it was nowhere near as loud as the QC-equipped Barker. If you do go the Barker route and noise is an issue where you ride, you may want to order two different sized QCs, as you may need to go with an even more restrictive one if the cops in your area aren't tolerant. |

Every 1125 exhaust that isn't stock, regardless if it has a QC or not, will be loud. Some are louder than others, but all can get you a ticket. |

I guess I am lucky here in Louisiana. We have lots of very loud Harleys around. My Barker without quiet core gives me no problems. I have been through two inspection checks by the State Police with no issues. |

MAN ey was sollen das hier dein Auspuff ist zehr laut Jornum 1 has a video test of both the 1" and the 1.5" quiet core I will ask him to pop the vids up so you can compare. The 1" is not to loud at all the 1.5" seems to be the best I run the 1.5 and have never been stopped it actually seems louder at idle. |

Was sagen Sie? Ich bin Auslander und spreche nicht gut Deutsch... "Scheiss Holländer" I guess I'll just order a Barker with 1" QC and keep the revs down in the well controlled areas. That worked for me with my Akrapovic (without QC), on the few occasions that I was in Germany with that bike... |

Have you think about Twin Motorcycle:s Torque Hammer exhaust, velocity stacks and their tune? Only with TM:s velocity stacks and specific tune your CR have a lot more torque and horsepower. TM is in the Ijsselstein in Netherlands. |

1.5 here too. No issues at all. The ride yesterday from Philadelphia to Atlantic City was nothing but cop after cop. Yesterday was the first time I picked up multiple nice bike what is it from other riders and a few patched up dudes on Rt 206 and the police. The 1125 with a Barkers is nowhere close to any opened up HD on the road with pipes. Compared to the long shots on my Softail this bike is quiet. Big difference is youre seated right over the exhaust exit. Read up on the inserts I think the 1.5 vs the 1 made a better power vs noise swap. |

@ Blower1 I don't like the look of the Torquehammer and performance is nowhere near to the Barker according to the American Sport Bike exhaust shootout. My other option is a Quat-D exhaust. This one even has an E number, so it is allowed on European roads (just like the butt-ugly Remus and GRP). It has a cat and a quiet core which are removable. When the cat is removed, no one can tell, so that'll be out permanently of course. In Germany they like to check E-numbers when in doubt and without one you can leave your bike behind, even if it doesn't make a lot of noise. The other way round, when you have an exhaust with E number and a quiet core, they wont do a thing. No matter what noise it makes... So you can safely put in a shortened QC or something. But I'm a little worried about the performance of the Quat-D. Also the looks are not really my thing. Based on looks, I would chose a RT-1, RT-3, or FMF Race exhaust, but of course those are just way too loud... |

I just saw a sticker on my frame (I guess because my bike is imported from the UK) that says it may produce 102dB @ 5000rpm static according to the E4 (Dutch) standard. Which is louder than original... So actually I can mount a Barker with QC and try to tell the German police it is approved for Holland just as it is (there is no E number on the original exhaust either). |
