I don't mean to correct you Ezblast. But that photo of Drew Proffitt's Drag bike that you posted elsewhere. That features the Crossroads bolton handlebars. They are not regular dragbars. The Crossroads bars are more forward than regular dragbars. I've seen this bike up close in person. I just thought you'd like to know the difference. |

They look wide enough without much of a bend. But you'll have to see when you get them on! If its close, tilting the bars up will give you extra clearance. So even if its close, you can still get away with them. (really not that uncomfortable if you have too). |

well, started doing the bars yesterday. Moved my bike into the backyard underneath an overhang to miss out on the rain, then 5 oclock rolled around with the darkness...got stuck twice in mud in the back yard, now i understand nobbies! Good news, bars and grips and all assemblys on, Bad news, took me 2 hours to sort out the clearance, so yes there are SERIOUS clerance issues with the drag bars. Ended up having to tilt them way up. Ill post some pics here in a few minutes. Chris |

Hey Chris - your mail box is full and your bouncing mail on your Yahoo addie - I tried to cc you via that - all I was writting about is how a lot of Blast oldtimers - lol - have went through about a half dozzen bars apiece in our search for comfort and sporting ability - lol They make a mirror mount replacement plug that will fill the hole - making it look a lot better - the plug was made for the XB-S bikes and is a direct fit - don't have a stock number but if you ask for it by that description at the parts counter you should be ok - I was. If you really want to get intense with wiring and all - you could switch over to the XB-R control set. Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ edited by ezblast on November 18, 2003 |

Chris-Sorry to hear they fit just as well as mine did!I was hoping you found a set that would fit. I researched all kinds of risers and such,to make them work, but I couldn't come up with anything that wouldn't really turn them into an expensive set of $40 superbike bars! What are (I found) almost like drag bars are the 4 way adj Laverda bars or the 2 way adj thomasselli clubman bars.I'm sure you'll enjoy your new bars (I did), but if you get obsessed to find the 'perfect' set-up you might look into those. I have to say - I think my profi - clip-ons are the best set up still - 4 way adjustable and you can add spacers for the height up to superbike height or foward that far - however you want - increments at 3/4 and 1 1/4 - you have to ask if you want the bigger spacer - Wild Hair sells them - I have mine set for 1 1/2 height and a little foward I like them - lol - but I have superbars on the red for more of XB-S style of ride (the Black is very close to the R's;0)). EZ--Those look about as far forward as my Crossroads bars. The Crossroads are wider, though. If they weren't, I would have had clearance issues in the other direction (front brake reservoir is right up against stock flyscreen as it is.) Once you get accustomed to the ergo's it's soooo much better than the stock bars. Scott |

Feels much better now! hope i never run into a situation where i cant turn far enough tho...this is prob just temporary anyway. Heres a pic, at night with low quality, but ya get the idea... |

Nice setup! http://www.whaccessories.com/Handle%20bars.htm these guys sell the sets cheaper - you have to ask for the bigger spacer or different color bar - however, http://specii.com/index2.html these guys are the MFGR. outlet and you can get the different size spacers or different colored handles from them - or use their stock number and have WH order them cheaper - lol. Bassically the same price as any name brand clipon but with the added bennifit of practically infinate adjustment up to superbike height - lol - Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ-I forgot about those! Did you slide the fork tubes or move the headlamp mount? Can you mount those in front of the fork tubes (reverse mount them so they are closer to the tank)? |

are the superbike bars any better clearance wise?? Seeing as i am now a handlebar swapping pro...lol...i might just try them in anodized red, if they are any better, dont wanna waste my time tho. I sure do like the look of the tomas clubmans tho...115.00 is almost clip on money ...Chris |

Actually - after making sure everything was secure - I loosened and slid the top tripple tree off - slid the clip-ons on and put the tripple tree back on - never taking it completely off just lifted it enough to slip the clip-on on. I moved the headlight mount down that inch and change.to have room for them. the superbike bars place you a little higher up - clearance is tight but doable - this bar is the prefered if you do a lot of in city driving - the position leaves you high enough up to see over and around traffic with out lifting yourself from the bars - lol - the clip-ons leave you in a definate foward position which means you have to lift yourself up a bit to get a good view of surrounding in city traffic. http://www.myimager.com/ is free and you can do all kinds of editing, including size - lol My clip ons - at my adjustments - are 26" across, and with the bar end signals it becomes 29". My mantra while splitting lanes - 29 inches, 29 inches, .... - lol - You'll be a net master in no time now - lol GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Welcome cj! Links (as posted above): http://www.whaccessories.com/Handle%20bars.htm http://specii.com/clips.html#clips For regular style clip-ons any set that fit 37mm forks will fit (but you'll have trouble getting the steering to lock). Other places may also carry the Profi and Telefix adjustable clip-ons. (Message edited by Gearheaderiko on February 11, 2009) |
