Alright, the XB is in need of an oil change, and i'm a little broke at the moment, so I can't go spending $50 on full-syn oil right now like I had been running. What are some good dinosaur alternatives? I usually run Rotella in my Jap bikes, but I can't find Rotella 20-50 on the shelf anywhere. I have One quart of the Harley full-syn sitting around, so that'll go in the primary, but what would y'all suggest for the motor? |

I use Mobil 1 VTwin 20-50. Fully Synthetic. Autozone sells it. Sometimes I can find it at the Evil Empire - Walmart. Don't use it in the Primary case though. The Mobil-1 MX4t or "Racing 4T" is specially formulated not to cause your Stator to woof it's cookies. |

I like formula plus for the primary. Makes the old S1 shift real nice. Last time I changed oil I used Castrol Power RS V-Twin 4T. You can get it at Auto Zone or Advance Auto. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores /servlet/product_x_99997736-P_x_x?cm_mmc=CSE-_-Goo gle-_-VALUE3-_-VALUE4&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=99997 736 (Message edited by lightnindave on May 19, 2011) |

Wally World had Castrol 20-50 on sale, so I went with that for the engine, and Formula Plus in the primary. I'll probly change the Castrol after 2K, but at least it'll buy me a month or two till I can get some better stuff in there. Also, something odd I noticed: The owners manual says one quart will do the primary, and it says the proper fill level is even with the bottom of the clutch basket. Funny thing is, one quart never reaches the bottom of the basket, I usually have to add more. Is this just me? Am I doing something wrong? Also, due to a phone update issue, I don't have anyone's phone number anymore, so if you have mine, I'd appreciate a text so I can put ya back in my phone. Fran: I'll be busy this weekend, but maybe sometime next week would work. What's your number? I'm at 404-731-1414. One warning; If I come over there, how would you feel about someone taking your 1125 for an evaluational test ride? Purely for academic purposes, of course.... (I've been looking at them more and more. I wouldn't trade my XB for one, but I can see adding an 1125 to the stable at some point....) |

Oh, almost forgot. I rode a friend's very well-setup '07 GSXR 600 last night, and while it Is a nice bike and I wouldn't turn one down, the single biggest thing I came away with was an even bigger appreciation for my Buell. Yeah, the GSXR is nice, but as a total package, I think the Buell is a better bike. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I was so struck by that realization, I had to share that thought with people who'd understand. My truck is staying parked for weeks at a time cuz I've been on the Buell. With that much time spent on it, I'd started to forget WHY it's so special. I got a firm reminder last night. Now I'm even more excited about getting more Buells. Within the next 2-4 years, I'll be adding a CityX/1125 and an S1. Anyway, I'm rambling. I was just struck by this experience and had to share that thought. |

Haha, I've been wondering what to replace the gixxer with. Maybe I need a police bike. That sounds like a riot. I had a great time out on the Ulysses today. It feels light as a feather after riding the K1200GT for a while. We didn't ride too far. We stopped briefly at Rider's Hill then went over Blood Mountain and across the RBR to Helen for lunch. From there we took 17/75 north and cut back over to 129 on 180. The last guy in our group got popped doing 65 in a 35 by a forest ranger at the top of the mountain. From there we went back to Rider's Hill for ice cream and then headed home. |

Charlie, what do you think of HHR's,'05 and later Ford Focus and the '04-'08 Mazda3? |

I would not bother with the HHR, just like the PT cruiser its heavy and underpowered. Fords cheap cars seem to be ok, most of em use mazda engines but beware of the timing belts, the cams have no cotter key to line up the cam gears and it has to be done by ford. Lots of good things about the mazda 3 from what I hear, no real experience. I am sticking to Honda and Toyota, PROVEN reliability. |
