I'm reassembling the rocker box after changing the head gasket and I ordered the rocker box gaskets from Cometic. They included eight new fiber washers for bolt 1 (See attached picture) and a set of eight copper washers (four each for the front and rear cylinder) but I don't know where these copper washers are supposed to go. As the pic shows, bolts 12, 13, 14 and 15 all have replaceable washers but the new washers won't fit on bolts 12 or 13. Bolts 14 and 15 would accept the new washers but there are only two and three of them per cylinder, respectively, so there's no reason to have sent me eight. I included the washers in my picture and you can see that they're almost the exact same size, so is it possible they're both supposed to go on bolt 1, but over the existing steel washer which is not removable? Thanks to anyone who can help! -Dan

I think they send the copper washers in case you don't have the #1 bolts with the integral steel washer. I would say the fiber washers go on #1 without the copper washers, under the steel washer. |

The copper washers go in place of the fiber IF you have the older style of bolts that didn't have the steel non-removable washers. So basically i agree with Essmjay. |
