After doing some research and talking to the right people I have found a cheaper solution to the "Clutch weep" problem. Here is how the original parts came in the 1125r: piston - anodized w/ 2 O-Rings piston sleeve - aluminum w/ 2 O-Rings After removing the puck and the bolt that holds the piston in the sleeve you might notice that the fluid is dirty with black residue. Some people also have reported damage to the sleeve from the friction of the piston moving in and out. H-D's solution was to replace the aluminum sleeve with an anodized sleeve and an aluminum piston. If the issue was really about the metal not being hard enough why not have both parts anodized? Since the "fix kit" comes with one part anodized and the other still aluminum I don't believe that the materials used for the sleeve and the cylinder are an issue. After talking to 'Brumbear' and EB Racing it seems that the issue was in fact because H-D used standard O rings in the original design. After a while the O rings would wear away increasing the amount of friction between the sleeve and the piston. The "Fix kit" however has actual seals instead of the cheap O-Rings. H-D has charged people hundreds of dollars per "fix kit" when I believe that all you need is to replace those crap O Rings as long as the sleeve and piston are in good shape. Here are the H-D part numbers for each of the seals CR0001.3AM CR0002.3AM I recommend going to surdyke.com, they usually run good sales on parts. |

Are not the grooves cut into each part, cut to accommodate the type of seal for which they were designed? Original piston has rounded grooves to fit "o" rings and the redesigned part has squared off channels (like those of the piston in the engine) to fit the better (newer) designed seals |
