It looks great! I sincerely hope, by "only after the engine" that you don't mean you're making a chopper. Just my opinion though. If you DO chop it up, send me some pieces! |

I don't think you want to start with an X1 for a conversion project... its high strung and the fuel injection system will give you no end of fits to port over. Sell this bike for the cost of a sportster with a carb, and save yourself a lot of grief. A number of people have made offers, and if they fall through I can probably get you an offer as well. I'll even throw in a 250cc two stroke 1971 Kawasaki Bison (F8, no title, bill of sale, I bought it and got it running for fun). It would be a lot of fun to ride around the fields at Big Rock in Maysville. |

Definitely agree with Reep. You can get a lot more than the price of a "motor" if you sell this bike, Sell this and get yourself the motor you want. These "Red Stripes" should be really easy to sell for a good price. |

im taking offers on it, thought alot about it, and if i do keep this bike im going to trike this bike via bolt on trike kit, that way all im changing is the swing arm which i have to find a 95 to 98 swing arm first, To those of you that are scratching your head as to why a trike? outta necessity, i was in a bad motorcycle wreck two yrs ago which cost me a leg, i just wanna get back out there |

Sorry to hear about your mishap. As for the trike, do a web search and you should be able to find a couple of examples of Tubers made into trikes. |

love the blue and red stripe specials. I'm glad your doing a reversable mod. Good luck with your trike conversion. |

Modify, or fabricate a different front shock mount to lower the bike. A mount that lengthens the distance between the front and rear [mounting] points will lower the bike. Limiting factor is suspension travel, 'bout a half inch on the mount gives an inch shorter bike I believe. Suggest fabbing up something if you are going to keep things where they can be put back. Stock mounts seem to be getting harder to find. Another option is to trade the rear shock with someone who has a "low" edition Cyclone who wants to raise theirs up a bit. You can slide the forks down a little bit in the clamps too. Sorry about your crash. Red Stripes are neat bikes, favorite of mine as well. You've got the Buell race ECM along with the V&H pipe, prolly a K$N filter in that airbox too. Pretty nice set-up. Odd that the rear wheel doesn't match, came with a white one. Post pics of the other side and we can tell you more about the shock that's on it now. Looks like it might could use the front muffler hanger upgrade kit too (newer one has better isolators). Joe's going to be swapping out his Low suspension. Maybe you could enter into discussion with him to get something lower. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/634325.html?1306287144 PM's go to the email you used for your profile email address. Just in case you ant to enter into private discussion and can't find your PM's, remember to check you spam mail, many times PM's can be routed there. |

Little buggles : wouldn't shortening the shock raise the bike. When I went to a strut, the longer we made it the lower the bike was. It pushes the swingarm mount back, raising the tire, lowering the bike. |

Yikes! You are right, I apologize for that false information. will edit if the post isn't too old. Thanks for the correction. Simple thing like that, I shouldn't be spouting off about in the middle of the night I guess. |
