I have DDM 55w Slim HID's in my bike... 16,500 miles on em..
NOT ONE PROBLEM
I am not easy on 'em either
Completely happy! Would buy again without thinking about it. |

Captain, where did you mount the ballasts? So far, I'm leaning toward Junior's solution --- I have a dark-smoke Double Bubble, so that will hide them pretty well, I think. But I'd like to hear some other opinions. |

Has anybody used the set-up American Sportbike recommends with the Halo bulb on the high beam and how good does this work?
Are the DDM and American Sportbike systems putting out a blue light?
I'm ready to pull the trigger on this mod but want to know the options. Does the American Sportbike kits plug & go as the DDM system? Also, which kit is the brightest since the are differently spec'd? |

I can't comment on the American Sport Bike system, as I went with DDM. However, I can tell you that, as for "putting out a blue light," you choose the color you want, by choosing the temperature, measured in degrees Kelvin. I went with 5000K, which I thought would be brilliant white but which actually shows just a subtle hint of blue (it still looks awesome). 6000K is much more blue. Most color charts consider a 5000k HID to be pure white. It make look a little blue, just because everyone else is using a standard bulb and they look yellow. 6000k-12000k are your blues, but i would stay away from ANYTHING over 8000k, could get you in trouble with law enforcement |

I had my HID kit installed on 2009-12-21 @ 41800 miles.
I got the slim ballasts and routed the wires in such a way that I was able to tuck them under the fairing without using ZIP ties or anything.
Just like Zac4mac, I have a little over 20k miles on the HIDs and they are wired straight in with no relay.
I got the 55W 6000K lo-beams on my 2008 1125R with heated grips.
Still on original stator/rotor/RR/Battery. About 62,225 miles total.
