I checked Frank's progress just now and it says Tesuque. He's practically here. Man I wish I could go. |

I'm thinking it will be in the high 60's or low 70's this weekend. Cold in the morning though. See you all this afternoon. Take care of my Debbie! |

Huh... interesting. Why are you selling it? I don't have any money or my garage would be full of bikes I like. Hope you get what you're after. |

It was so great riding and seeing everyone....was also a great weekend to work on my riding skills....I feel like I improved so much...except right towards the end today I did'nt push hard enough through a curve and ended up a bit on the other lane....pissed me off....awell....live and learn. Take care everyone...ride safe |

CJ, The TT runs great - just like a typical 2007 XB. No problems whatsoever...low miles for its age. The price is flexible. I now have a newer 2009 XB12R... so I figured I didn't need a 4th XB in the garage... _________________ Glad everyone had an enjoyable and safe ride. Wife and I went up north today... Cuba, Coyote, Abique, El Rito, Ojo Caliente, and back... |

That's a nice ride. I didn't know you picked up a 12R. How do you like it? Is this a street bike or track bike? |

For now... the 12R is a street bike. Reminds me of old 9R times - only more up-to-date (more power and seems to handle and feel better). |

I made it back with my trailer queen. Thank you Bart for organizing a great ride and giving me a place to stay the night. I hope more of the New Mexico folks can make that run next time, which may be this fall? I will post a link to all the pictures I took later this evening. There is a good one of the new couple, Russ and Shannon. |

Glad to hear everyone made it home safe and sound and that everone had a good time. Thanks to Kelly for leading the Arizona group, and thanks to the Colorado crowd that showed up in force, and thanks to Russ and Shannon for helping me represent New Mexico, and thank you Nick and Tyler. It was good seeing Kim and Cheryl again, that is quite the rig they have, I am envious! Frank and Lynn, thanks for coming down, I know it was an effort on your part and Deb and I appreciate it. It was great seeing everyone, thank you for attending. I look forward to the fall Ridefest! |

Woo! Pics! We'll probably be up for the fall one, depending on when it is. Now I just need to hop up the Blast a bit... Shannon was flogging it *hard* to keep up. No wonder it goes through oil... A few more hp would do wonders. Semi-related, I'm not seeing a "Total Control" riding class offered anywhere in New Mexico. Does anyone know of anything similar? I'd like to work on my tight cornering skills under the instruction of someone who can tell me what I'm doing wrong. |

Question for anyone who went on the ride... Does Quemado, NM have a gas station? Last time I was through there , two run down gas stations were closed...but that was some time ago. |

There are two gas stations. One has been open forever, and is pretty run down, but still sells gas. There is also a new station and store with reserved hardley parking. You must not have been paying much attention the last time you were there. |

OK - thanks. This was many years ago and on a Sunday... the old station you describe (visible on google earth) was closed. Its good to know there's also a new station. I need to get back down there one of these days. |

OK, I guess I've procrastinated enough, here are some of the pictures I took during the SpringFast ride: My 1125CRRT in it's current sport touring configuration:
This was taken about 30 miles south of I-40 along 177 at a pull over with a view of an Arch:
This was at the "new" gas station in Quemado, Frank felt obligated to park there, since the sign said, "Hardleys Only"
We stopped in Springerville to stock up on supplies, snacks, booze, etc. While we were inside, Frank kicked back and watched the bikes. A mother and child walked by, and the kid commented. "Look at that old man, Mom" (or something to that effect)
We got to Alpine ahead of the Arizona group, and found this welcome sign waiting for us at the lodge
We had time to kill, so Russ, Jody, and I took a quick run down 191 to Hannigans Meadows and back. By the time we got back, the AZ crowd had shown up, and the girls were catching up on old times
There was also another group of sport bike riders there, very friendly, who were also enjoying the festivities, I particularly liked this guys shirt:
We finally made it inside for dinner, and had a damn good meal, and some great conversation. I really had a good time.
Frank and Lynn
Russ and Tyler
Kim and Cheryl
I think Lynn really enjoyed that $30 bottle of wine
Some of the bikes
Getting ready for the days ride
Kelly does his Capt Morgan immitation
Our first stop was in Glenwood, NM. to stretch, and relax a bit. I tried to stop about every 60 miles.
Lynn does the Happy Dance for us
We stopped on HWY78 where Daryl Levesque went down during the 2003 BRAG TorqueFest. There was a real nice monument there for quite a few years, but it has been removed. I placed a BUELL sticker on the guardrail where he impacted, I will add some words on the backside, out of view next ride up.
Cheryls Triumph
Kims XR1200
Debbies XB9SL
We rode on into Morenci for lunch, and after started the ride up 191. We stopped at the mine overlook, I can't remember, but think this may be one of the biggest open pit mines in the US. Jody was so excited, he started pulling his pants down! eeeew!
We continued up 191 and it's many, many, curves, and stopped at Hannigans Meadows. This is usually the last stop of the ride, and a great photo op
Frank and Lynn, two very special Buellers
I want to thank everyone again, that attended. I had a great time, and hope you all did also. I look forward to the next ride... (Message edited by bartimus on May 18, 2011) |
