True enough there are LOTS of products on the market that make things illegal to own/operate.
The quality of the product originally posted looks terrible, the idea of the product is sound.. It does have its place. It may not be something that the vast majority of people would find a use for but it's still down to personal choice at the end ofthe day.
Just because someone chooses to do something differently it doesn't make them wrong - just different.

Drugs are illegal to sell. As is prostitution in most places. So if drugs are illegal then what is the purpose of places selling a bong? Cops should just camp out and follow customers home right?
Tint, Exhausts, ECM's high speed vehicles, etc all have non illegal uses and reasons to own. WE are choosing to break the law with them.
Chopped tails, with hard to see plates are riding the line for me. Plate is visible you're just making it harder to see clearly but you are not masking it.}
Flip plates and such devices have no other use than to hide your plate which is illegal.
I realize this is not a popular attitude but its mine and I'm not concerned with showing it.
Drugs, prostitution, gambling, etc all have awesome uses and reasons to do. I choose to break the law with them just to have a great time laughing with my friends.

Hybrid - civvie is shorthand for civilian, in the vernacular of bike clubs it's what "outsiders" are generally refered to as.

PLEASE don't turn this thread into a discussion on bike clubs, opinion is so strongly devided on that issue that it always end up in an "argument", I wish I hadn't brought it up.
The product looks like junk, but it is legal to sell, buy, own and fit (IN THE UK) it's just illegal to "operate" on public roads.
Having said that they wil attempt to use the "perverting the course of justice" fallback and/or "going equipped" if they catch you with one in the UK.
It's so fugly I can't see any self-respecting Buell owner buying one anyway...
I've seen devices like this offered for late model Corvettes which don't have a designed-in front license plate mount or show car owners who particularly don't want to show a plate in show circumstances. Some states don't have a requirement for a front plate but some like California do. So, I can see a need for such a device for Cali Corvette owners who don't want to ruin the good looks of their car but yet be able to avoid a petty parking fixit ticket for no front plate. It happened to me.
However, applying this idea to the rear plate for other than show situations seems rather illegal.
Jules - I am not against MC clubs, so I wont take it that way. While I never see myself in one, I have known many of people in various clubs. The way I see it, they are just regular guys with the a patch on their back, I have nothing against them. Hell, last week I was pitted with my friend, a Red Devil (HA affiliate club), and then helping a Desperado on his nitro HD. Just good dudes who happen to be in a club. Its cool
we all break laws everyday - sometimes with thinking about it (speeding for one)
if someone wants to fit a flip plate to their bike which they have paid for then go and do it, its a free world. Most of us fit a aftermarket pipe knowing that it is against the law.

Mountainstorm - There was a Chuck Norris film set in the middle east where his dirt bike had rocket launchers! The things I have heard and seen over the years. There is a guy here in Portlandia who has a Samurai armored jacket, matching armored helmet and a long sword in the back standing vertically. Some kind of IL4, matte black everywhere.
