Is there any reason you want that other than attempting to elude the police? (Not judging, just asking) |

what a piece of crap! Leaving the ethics/legality out of the question, just look at how awful that thing is built! Shame on the Bueller who would put that on their bike

BTW, assuming you would have a conversation with a cop at some point after using that, there ain't no way in hell they would give you any kind of a break. Your "flipaplate" will turn into a "grabyerankles" right quick like. |

I agree with Xodot, it looks like a pile of garbage. I know that in NY that it is illegal to have a license plate on a hinge. I wonder what would be involved to make a similar unit for a Buell. |

Ya unless you're doing something illegal would be the only reason. On my GSXR I had it a hinge from home depot because I had my old plate roll up like a fruit rollup when I had my ex on the back and we hit a dip. That to me seems like a waste of money unless you plan on doing something illegal like going through red lights or tolls. |

I agree looks like a good way to watch your bike ride off on a wrecker to the pound while you hold a nice ticket in hand. |

After you order this awesome contraption you should buy a Icon Helmet with a mohawk...I mean just to full fill the Squid persona entirely. I would hate for you to show up to your local hard park spot and look stupid. |

Red light cameras. Enough said. Eff them. Also, Froggy, how does NY feel about older cars with flip down license plates to hide the fuel filler? Are they illegal cars in NY? |

That things quality looks like ass. My perception is cops look at a buell and say to themselves thats a harley, which alot of cops love. Thus I can wheelie in front of one and they dont care. Now when Im on my yamaha, then every dirty look is thrown at me for just sitting on the thing. Cops associate jap bikes with idiots running from them, while buell is more of a hey lets chit chat thing so I can bring up my harley crusier. |

Agreed with several of you - the quality of it looks really poor. And there is no legit reason to own a product like that. Squid it up bro! |

I have a "speedflip" http://www.speedflip.com on mine. I LOVE it, one of the best additions to the bike. There are several reasons I have it, one or two are actually legitimate, the others are just to avoid some of the revenue gathering speed cameras that are all over the place now. It's been on there 12 months now and never had a single issue, my plate is also undersized and the wrong colour, never been stopped by the police for that either... Having said that, I make a conscious choice as to whether I stop when they indicate they want to speak to me, if the plate is flipped, I just don't stop... pretty simple really. Zero-Fear do a much cheaper version, I have a couple of them at home too, for the ZX11 I just bought. |

Yeah, I've had flip plates on all my bikes for the past 8 years, before that I had an electrochromatic one. For me it's almost a neccessity, I ride in a patch club and live in another patch club's turf... I wear my colours all the time and see the other lot almost every day, so the plate is down (not visible) and I can always get through traffic, ignore traffic lights and do whatever I feel neccessary to be safe (OK so taking my colours off would be the same thing but I just can't bring myself to do that). I KNOW it's stupid, and I know most people won't understand it but it's something that works for me. |

I find it sad that people sell stuff designed for no legitimate reason other than to break the law. Worse yet people pay them for it. |

Have one, don't have one...RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE! I don't personally have a flip plate, but I do have a tail chop. Mine is illegal by definition of the law for a number of reasons, so it would be pretty hypocritical to cast judgment on another. Anyone got HID bulbs that are not a 100% legal kit with reflectors and all included? I do, and it is also illegal by definition of the law...What's the difference? How about aftermarket exhausts...Anyone running those? Other than the obvious build quality issues of the OP's referenced product, the rest of your comments are pretty jerky... |

I find it sad that people sell stuff designed for no legitimate reason other than to break the law. Drugs, prostitution, gambling, trips to Cuba, laser shifters in certain states, dark window tint, shady home mortgages, loud exhaust, ECM programming that breaks EPA standards, street vehicles that go over 70mph.... I can't believe it either. |
