I really like my GPR damper. There are only a couple of minor things that concern me in your case. First, your top tree would need to be the same thickness as the stock one. I know the cap bolt is still in the right place. If your custom top tree is a different thickness, the arm that bolts to the frame would need to be spaced appropriately. It might be easy, it might not be easy. The other thing is the bottom of the damper mount where it rests on the top tree. I can not confirm this without removing my damper. Maybe someone has one sitting on a shelf? If I remember correctly, the back side of the damper mount is milled to fit in the recesses milled into the stock tree. These recesses are visible in several pictures torquaholic posted. There are three recesses on the stock tree, one on each side of the cap nut, and one above the cap nut with the 25th anniversary logo in it. I think the damper mount fits into the side recesses only. It might be no big deal, but it might mean milling off the bottom of the damper mount the thickness of the recesses. I am sure the cap nut holds it tight enough without it sitting in the recesses. They probably did that so it fits flush everywhere. I know from another install of this damper that it won't work correctly if it is not all lined up just right. It will cause binding. I would think that you could easily make it work if you can make a custom tree like the one you have. | ||

The bottom DOES have some raised areas to fit into the recesses of the top triple --- however, they don't exactly match up anyway (at least on my 08, and you can also see a hint of it in torque's pictures) --- so I think it's irrelevant. Regardless, I used a sheet of adhesive vinyl (the same kind they use to protect the number plate on dirt bikes) on the bottom to protect my triple, just in case. I can't speak to the thickness of the aftermarket triple. | ||

Kinder - I'm finding I like 9-12 on my GPR Damper depending on how I'm riding. |
