Hey guys / gals... Az spring fast rider here... My self and my buddy Tylor are making the ride next weekend but we finalized it a bit late and when I booked our room all that was left was a single bed room, the lady on the phone told me they have no cots or pull out couches so one of us will be hitting the floor unless I can possibly find someone who may have a double bed room who is only using one bed.. If anyone is interested in a trade please let me know. -Thanks, Nick |

I booked a double and will be alone so we can probably switch rooms. We can sort it out once we are all at the lodge. No worries :-) |

I've got a double bed room too, but we usually compress... we can work it out. Who's riding what for the ride? I'm planning to bring the 1125R in "cargo touring mode" (lowered pegs, full triple set of Cortech bags), and my gf will be on the Blast. |

I'm going up on my 1125CR... non touring mode, just a back pack and the highbars! My friend Tylor is bringing his KTM RC8 |

Well, last year, I rode my 1125CRT
Vetter bagman saddlebags, Cortech tailbag, and a Buell tuber tankbag. This year, I've got my CR converted to an R, so I'm calling it an 1125CRR.
But I'm thinking of putting the high bars back on. If I do, I will have to modify the fairing mounts up some. It will then become a 1125CRRT, LOL. We shall see. Debbie will be riding her XB9SLT. she has a set of soft saddlebags, thats why I call it a "T". |

You have one of the strangest 1125s I've ever seen... I just picked up a new Tourmaster neon jacket from Accessory Pit. I shall be visible! |

LoL, which version looked strange? The CR with a windshield? Or the CR that has an R fairing? |

Yes. Yes, it does look strange. Both versions. :-P I think the UlyCRses looks weirdest, though. |

LOL, Well I got the high bars reinstalled, modified and installed the fairing bracket. So now I've got the R fairing, with the high bars. Nice... Still waiting on the new front tire. I'm pumped though, only 4 more days. |

Hey Bart, what was involved in time/cost for the R front end? |

It was pretty cheapH fairing bracket, fairing, headlights, mirrors, most I bought from Erik Buell Racing, and assorted nuts and bolts. Everything bolted right up, no problems. Once I gathered all the pieces, it only took about 3 hours to do the work. There are more pics in the 1125 board under CR to R conversion. You will see it this coming weekend. :-) |

Bart, Nice job on the conversion! I love the way a CR looks in general, but I also love my R's looks too much to swap out the front end to make into a CR. If anything I would just buy a CR to fill the void.... but, I dont make enough money to afford it, besides, my fiancee just graduated from the MSF course this weekend and will be wanting a bike of her own before too long. I think Russ hit it on the head with the class, it is very beginner friendly. I took it about 10 years ago, so I had forgotten a lot about it. I am very impressed with how the class was run. My fiancee had never really been on a bike (save for the little bit of instruction I gave her on my CBR prior to the start of the class.) She started out really tense and rigid, but after a few tips from the instructors (mostly Kurt and Mark as they were the only two on the range) she loosened up by the second day and felt really comfortable handling the bike. She started out the second day by doing the figure 8 (not too well) but by the day's end, she was doing it like a champ! I suppose we will be on the prowl for a good starter bike in the next couple of weeks. I dont want anything too expensive for her first bike, but I think she likes the feeling of riding and will want one soon. |

Awesome! Tell her congratulations for me! Blasts keep showing up on Craigslist, but good luck finding a good condition one for $1000. I'm *quite* happy with our find. |

Debbies first bike was a mint Suzuki savage I picked up for $1200. It was a good starter bike for here because it was comfortable and easy to maneuver. 1 year later after riding my XB, we found her an XB9sL. Definitly leave your options open. |

Yeah, I was initially looking at a Ninja 250, but finding a non-beat-to-death one for under $2k was proving impossible. The Blast wasn't the top option based on the bike, but a Blast for $1000 was. That said, it's really nice being able to swap parts around with my other Buells |

I am kind of keeping an eye out for a ninja 250 (new model, or old) or blast for under 2K... I dont care if it is scratched up (price dependant)just as long as it runs well. I can get plastics for cheap as long as everything else is mechanically sound. She already said she doesnt want a cruiser type like she rode in class... I dont know though... we shall see what she ends up getting. |

Yes, there is a Denneys there. If we r not outside look in there. Out first gas stop will be the exit for Quemado just before grants. The XB's don't go too far on a tank of gas so we need to get it when we can. I'm ready, new rubber, all shiny almost loaded up. :-) |

In case anyone is interested you can track our progress down to Bart's house through the link below: http://aprs.fi/k0jqz-10 When you click the link it will display a map however, it should really only start showing tracks and direction once we get on the way (Thursday sometime). It is not totally accurate as this is not meant to be a tracking system and is dependent on "digipeaters" to connect to along the way. There may be areas of no coverage. You will be looking for my callsign which is K0JQZ and will be displayed as K0JQZ-10 with a motorcycle icon. Again, it is not totally accurate and there will be a time lapse as well....... Weather not great today in Colorado. I am thinking we will be ok if we can get over Raton Pass but there is still too much crap on La Veta Pass which was going to be our route but now we have to go down I-25. Lynn and I are looking forward to meeting everyone. Frank |
