Yeah, you'll need a muffler specifically for a S1. Early M2 (pre 99) may also work It's gotta be that 2" part if you don't want to have to get creative. Looks like maybe an outlet was welded to your current header. You'll need to cut that off (just the extension) in order to mount a proper muffler. Consider a complete system, such as the Force, or a muffler header combo should someone have them for sale together. Headers for bikes built 99 and after will not work on your bike. |

>>>my boss told me the muffler helps with the bottom end pressure? true or false? Your boss is fairly correct, the back pressure of a "good" muffler will help thru the entire rpm range, idle to rev limiter. Besides riding without a muffler puts you in the "Fag" category.......brap,brap,blulbblubbrapbrap........ (Message edited by jramsey on April 08, 2011) |

ok all another question, had a friend come over and we worked on this carb together, he is very smart guy actually lol but anyways he was looking online and bunch of carb videos and stuff and came to realize that the problem with my carb is probably the jets.. but i dunno why it wouldnt atleast start unless the main jet is completely gone.. but anyways he recommends me get a new jet kit before we start taking apart the carb to see whatever. So which leads me to asking if some can direct a link or something to me so i can buy a jet kit for this bike , stock Carb is on it. Thanks! -Nick |

man that would be sweet if the SC buellers could come help you dont know how grateful i would be.. , so today i went out there and tried to start it again after i charged up the battery same thing just turning over but no starting.. i then took out the spark plugs to look at them for the first time since the first guy changed them to new.. i took them out they where alittle wet of fuel smelled like it too. The tips of them where black as hell same with about 5 threads down the sparkplug. I think they are fouled.. i will buy some sparkplugs tomorrow and put in the new ones and see if i can get this thing to start atleast. If not the only other thing i can think of is the jets .. especally the main jet needle. but yeah i would take us out to lunch or w/e if yall did decided to take a ride and help me out! i would be indebted forever! thanks -Nick p.s. oh and i do have a S&S airbox and K&N filter into atm , was just looking into better options so i could have alittle more leg room "my knee hits the airbox" that is all though thanks! Nick, id be happy to ride up and lend a hand, I've had my Cv40 apart, I'd say a good starting spot is a 190 main, 45 slow, and 2.5 turns out on the mixture screw |

Hey robert , i got my carb sent over to this guy in flordia that is gonna put in the new rebuild kit i bought and stuff. when he took it out the box he saw that the grommet or w/e around the mainjet was missing so i guess that was causeing the flooding of the gas =/ ohwell lol he will put a new grommet on there and send it back shortly, after i get it back ill let you know and i would be much much much appriecated if you could help tune it or w/e lol thanks man! |

And after all this, the bike is now listed for sale in the classifieds! For what you paid for it, you won't get anything close to this bike for a trade...just saying...maybe an old Honda if that floats your boat...shame. |

man twoseasons your post really bothers me... you think i want to trade this bike? i wanted a bike my whole life finally got this one... sorry i dont have all the money in the world to fix a bike when my family is needing food and gas ect... reason why i bought the bike was to save money in gas, so i need a bike that runs now not that i gotta keep putting money into fixing this carb where i could have bought a brandnew carb by now, remember what your mom or dad told you *probably* if you nothing nice to say dont say nothing at all thanks! -Nick |

Nick, These tubers require more upkeep than a jap bike but once you know what to look for, most of the issues can be resolved pretty quickly. This forum has been an invaluable resource of information from what I would describe as the best people on earth. Where else would a complete stranger offer to drive to you, or pick you up on the side of the road and help fix your bike for free. Then there are those who will loan you specialty tools on your word that you will return it when done. You won't find that any where else that I know of. Once your tuber is running well, it will help keep an constant ear to ear grin on your face |

Fix your Buell and ride. It ain't the Space Shuttle. Your still on the steep side of the learning curve. You will learn to move outside your comfort zone when it comes to doing repairs. Buy the factory Service Manual ASAP |

Why don't you buy a cheap scooter and use it to get used to two wheels. What you will learn about riding could prove to be invaluable to you, and might save your life one day. It will also buy you time in which to learn a bit about the very special bike you have stumbled across. To come to own an S1 is a journey through life, and is intended only for those pure of heart. The fact that you have had phenomenal advice and offers of assistance, and yet are prepared to cast away the proverbial Holy Grail makes me wonder if you worthy. |
