Bought a Blast on the cheap about a month ago, battery was dead and when jumped would not idle. Brought it home, charged up the battery, still wouldn't idle. PO said he replaced das boot but that didn't help, said he hadn't ridden it in a couple of years. Gas smelled horrible so I dumped it out and got fresh gas, pulled the carb apart and cleaned it out and, when inspecting das boot, indeed found a nice crack in it. Replaced das boot & spark plug, put everything back together, cranked her over and now she idles nicely. Problem is, that's all she does, when you crack the throttle it wants to stall out, reminds me of when a bike is cold, but she'll still do it even after she warms up. Now the weird part: I let her sit and idle a while, all of a sudden she started idling super-high, I cracked the throttle and she was full of power! Turned the idle down, went to take her for a quick spin and suddenly there was no power again. Hard starting and would barely idle, turned the idle back up and eventually got it to start and idle properly, again with no power. This whole cycle repeated itself again, then I put her away and figured I'd ask some opinions. Bike has 12,000 miles on it, no weird noises when idling, still seems like a carb issue? |

Honestly, it's acting alot like the new boot is letting air in somewhere. That's the only thing that has gone wrong with the blast I have though, so I could be wrong. I don't have much experience with it yet. |

New slide needed? Sat for two years - geeze - replace the jets as well - for stock 45/170 should do, air screw is 2 turns out at least right? Plug on the vacuum line? the line has crud in it, tank as well - clean out, then start with fresh super test, then add some Seafoam to the gas as well. add some Marvell Mystery oil to the oil, do a hundred miles, drain both and add fresh again as well. OK, now you've got me thinking. Is there a line on the carb that's supposed to be plugged? That's something I don't recall seeing... |

Yes - it comes plugged in Non-California models. Replace the fuel line from tank to carb as well - geeze - two years! Battery is probably not going to hold a charge too well either. Its on the left side of the carb. EZ |

OK, now I'm starting to get frustrated. Pulled the carb back off, plug is intact, reset the boot twice, still doing the same thing, acting like an intake leak. Put my hand over the carb and it revs up just fine, I have replaced both the boot and the intake o-ring, where else could I be getting a leak?? |

your slide could have a pin hole or tear or intake gasket could be letting in dirty air - two thoughts. Third - is the tank vent valve good? Safeties disabled? EZ |

OK I'm not exactly sure what I did, but the bike seems to finally be running right! Now if it would ever quit raining here I could take it out for a test spin |
