Does someone have a White Lightning (1998) that can give me a pic of the under portion where the muffler attaches to the header, and showing how both the header and slipon muffler are mounted and hung? Bike has Bub pipes on it (which I'm selling) and I want to fit oem header. However OEM header missing pieces included the actual slip-on. OTHER QUESTION: If i run the header without a muffler, is it a very bad thing other than the noise? |

Header without a muffler usually robs you of your low end from what I understand. Also, you'd probably have to richen the mixture up to account for increased flow. I remember hearing once, that it can hurt your valves somehow... I don't remember it well though. It's probably just a bad idea, honestly. |

it's a '98 S1W but this is all I've got right now....bike is stationary waiting for parts and there's no way to get a close up photo...btw the front hanger clamp is not actually on the hanger in this pic...the pipe and the rear hanger are what's holding it up (the exhaust was off the bike when I bought it, I just stuck it on there to save room in the garage)if that doesn't help hopefully someone else can get you a better pic.

Ok here's what I have as far as my header. Where and how does this little mount tab go? Perhaps I'm missing a piece on my bike?

no but you can see the tie bar that bolts to the front shock mount. Thats what connects to that tab on the header |

Michelangelo - does the header you have point across the bike at the bottom, or does it turn the corner and point back like in Harleyms's picture? The bike in the picture has a Buell Race header on it; it looks like yours might be the original equipment header. Different parts, different mounts. I think yours, if it's the OEM header, should have what is basically a piece of flat steel with a hole in each end, and twisted 90 degrees. One end bolts to the tab on your header, the other end bolts to the mount on the bike. |

No thats right i have Vance an Hines exhaust on my bike. The difference is in bent from your header to the muffler. I dont what it looks like oem, it was already on the bike when i both it. Marcel |

Yeah I'm thinking mine looks more like the pic above (the first one with the lower cowl thingy, minus the muffler after that t-bolt clamp). I'm obviousley missing an elbow. Hmmm...anyone know of anygood S1W tuber exhaust parts or systems for sale? |

If your header is missing the elbow, you have a STOCK header. If your header has the elbow, you have a RACE header. Stock is easier to find mufflers for. V&H are still available, and the Supertrapp IDS system is sweeet (and will hold together MUCH longer than a V&H, as well as actually producing POWER). Take a good photo of your entire header, email it to Al at American Sport Bike, and ask what he has available for it. I'm willing to bet he can fix you right up |

I wouldn't mind finding a Supertrapp or Vance and Hines but haven't been able to find any? Know a source or link? |
