Its getting cooler out and I was looking at getting some riding pants, but I'm not sure whats better. Is leather better then textile? I'm in south carolina so it doesnt get all to cold here. Spend the $ on leather or just go cheap? What about protection difference? Thanks in advance. | ||

Doit; I usually pick riding gear according to this simple rule: in the split second when you realize you're going to crash ... what would you have paid for your gear then  A friend of mine put it another way after breaking an ankle on track; the $800 for the Daytona Security boots would have been cheap compared to the Dr. bills, rehab and lost wages. Aside from the safety aspect, I'm with Court on the Aerostitch gear. Good stuff all around, made by riders for riders. Henrik | ||

I second, or is that third the Aerostich thing. We nice stuff. Very practical and offer excellant protection. That said not much would beat a full on set of one piece racing leathers. Leather (full bore race quality leather, many of your laether jackets don't qualify as this) will give you more abrasion resistance than the Aerostich suit. Impact absorbtion is depends on your padding and I think Aerostich offers high quality ones. The 'stich will have excellant abrasion resistance for normal street rding. I think you need to be going well over 100 mph before leathers advantage will really show up. It is always a trade off between protection and practicality. I think the 'stich wins that one hands down. The 'stich will cost ya BUT it is well worth it. Mine is comfortable from about 50 up to 90. I can drop that bottom number 10 degress by plugging in the electric liner and frozen gel packs make the top end easier to take also. Dave |
