Before the CR caught some winter snooze time in the garage, we had a pretty hot summer/fall here in MD. When it was hot and the machine was up to temperature, I'd sometimes lose my speedometer. At one point, when we were getting consecutive 95*F+ days, the VSS fuse was popping left and right. I must have went through a whole box of mini-fuses just for the VSS. I tried to track down a short or a pinched wire to no avail (the VSS shares the circuit with the brake light, which makes sense as a safety feature: if you lose your brake light, your speedometer goes out to let you know). Yesterday I was on an hour commute to the youth lacrosse team I coach with an ambient of about 80*F, and I lose my speedometer again. Speed up 10 mph, and about 20 seconds later it comes back online. No popped fuse. Should I go ahead and assume this is a faulty VSS, or attempt to track down a wire pinch or short in the circuit? Anybody have any experience to any trouble areas? I've already checked: - tail light wires near battery - VSS wiring through and through - wiring near steering stem under protective conduit - wiring under fly screen behind IC Thanks for the help in advance. On a brighter note, it's been beautiful here this week, and the new PR2's are going on next week! Now ... to get the wheels powdercoated white? Hmmmm ... |

My speedo cuts out a lot too... never when cold only after like 10 mins of riding... most common if 5th or 6th on the hwy but sometimes in all gears and speeds... I have never blown a fuse thou.... 09CR 10/08 production. I really need to get it into the dealer but lack the motivation... |
