I received my Custom Rewind Stator back today. It is wired to OEM 2009 specs, I did not have them drop the output on this. We'll see if this one cooks or if the better insulation and green goop help with heat issues. I'm using the stock VR for now, while Compufire gets the correct connectors for their VR. I have a weekend ride already scheduled for this weekend and did not want to cancel Hotels etc.
There is probably a trick to remove the spring clip for the oil lines. I used a ford fuel line clip to help remove the clip. It's a round plastic piece that slides down the line and helped push the clip out, then I removed using needle nose pliers.
Mounting the stator was pretty simple, I'm used to old Chevys so it was fun to tear in to this. I used recommended sealant around the rubber boot where the wires exit the housing. Also thread lock blue on the stator mount bolts.
Hardest part is routing the Stator wires back to the top of the engine. The Stator was removed for me at Deals Gap by Wheeler ( Great guy ) so I could drop it off at Custom Rewind on the way home. I did not see how he removed everything, so routing these wires correctly is my challenge right now. Had to walk away last night when the frustration level got to high. Also have extra wires that look like kickstand sensor wires. I need to figure out where those were mounted too.

Double check the specs, but I believe you need to torque the stator nut to 300 ft. lbs. |

That's only if you pull the rotor out. Just doing the Stator R & R, does not mess with that part of the charging system. Just the case bolts, and 3 bolts holding the stator to the case and of course the bolt holding the Crank position sensor. All of those are really low torque value numbers, measured in inch pounds. |

the torqing of the nut is an update because of a knocking noise from it being too loose from the factory. might be a good thing to do if youve already got the cover off. |

Why does it look like you are missing some green insulation? I thought there were magnets on the inside of the rotor? |

Why does it look like you are missing some green insulation? That's where I used the hammer to get the stator properly seated. J/K It extra stuff from where they potted in the wires.

Sure looks easier to change than on an XL engine. |

Gary with Custom Rewind is bit of a geek and self proclaimed "stator guy" he told me there are good looking stators and then there are ugly stators. Guess where we fall?...LOL uuuuuggly |

Is it running yet? Did you figure out what the extra wires are? |

there should be a clip that holds those wires near the sprocket. The kick stand switch plug is just tucked in behind the belt cover . I may have some pics i can't rember if i do i'll text them to you |

Got it. The clip is holding the KS plug. Realized I forgot to put the little metal shield between the stator cover and the stator. You can see the empty bolt hole in the third pic. My stator swap is getting to be less than 15 mins, including the cussing rant. It's all buttoned up, just waiting on the VR to show up today. Hope Custom Rewind was not hit by the storm activity. |

Has anyone seen this part from EBR ... http://www.erikbuellracing.com/store/catalog/produ ct/gallery/image/318/id/202/ I've got the same problem right now on my CR-09 so I'm thinking to put on the EBR-solution. Another thing I've found on this ... rewinding it with heavier wires ... http://www.ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/proddetail .php?prod=20-B112H&pmc=MDlCdWUxMTI1Q1I= |
