Ok the iron butt thing got me thinking, so everyone: Whats the most miles you've ever ridden in one day? Im first, 875 miles on a 03'XB9R from Socorro NM to Los Angeles, in under 17 hours. I might be the Firebolt king but I wonder who is the BadWeb Champ? Its bragging rights time! |

Rockford, IL to Dallas, TX. A little over 900 miles in about 14 hours on a '77 XLCR. I actually made the trip back and forth about 6 times and did it anywhere from 13 to 17 hours depending on conditions but 14 hours was about average. |

Easyflier, I still own my '77 XLCR and suspect you must have been a young man to put 900 miles on that thing in one sitting. Although I agree that maintaining your average speed above 65 mph helps relieve pressure on your wrists/arms quite a bit. Do you still own your CR? |

Fly, Unfortunately I don't, and yes I was a young man at the time. My sister and bro-in-law know the guy that ended up with it and he won't part with it. I wish I was in a position to make him a deal that he couldn't refuse. I really believe that a Buell is where the XLCR would have been had HD continued the development of cafe styled Sportsters. One particular memory of one of those trips was hitting an armadillo near Atoka, OK early one morning. I complained that my forks were soft so Kegels added a spacer and used heavy oil. Of course I would probably have been satisfied had they just added oil to the tube that came dry from the factory. Anyway, I was following a semi at 80mph+ and the armadillo ran right out in front of me, with the stiff front end I was positive I was going down, apparently they are a lot softer than they look. I hit it dead center and was still upright much to my surprise. |

about 750 miles, about 15 hours. 81 GS1100 / 82 GS1100 / 84 FJ1100. I'm too old now, but the S1 has endured 400 miles under me recently. |

Sydney, Nova Scotia to Kingston, Ontario in about 16hrs and it was about 1600km/1000mi. The previous day I did about 900km in 9hrs and only had about 4hrs sleep on a boat. I actually went into a trance (fell asleep) going about 120kph/75mph the last 50k/30mi and was rudely woke up by some kind of big ass bug hitting the shield of my helmet. I would attempt it again in a second!!!!but would get a riding buddy. |

On Thursday July 5, 1973, I left my house in Colorado Springs. 1208 miles and 22 hours later, I was at my best friend's house in Lafayette, LA. I got a nights sleep, then Saturday July 7, I left Ron's house in Lafayette and 22 hours later, I was home. I did the same trip in September of the same year, but with a week layover instead of a day. I also rode from Louisville, KY nonstop to Colorado Springs in 1977, but I don't remember the exact mileage or time; I'm pretty sure it's pretty close to the Lafayette distance/time. All the above was done on a 1973 Moto Guzzi V7 Sport. |

750 miles (Phoenix to San Francisco) in about 12 hours on a 1983 V45 Magna. Had about 2 weeks riding experience at the time. Return trip took about 10 hours. I loved that bike, totalled it a year later on a freeway just outside of SanFran. |

940 miles ( Rochester, NY to Deal's Gap, yes I got lost in Tennessee, or was it Kentucky ) in a little over 18 hours on my X1. The best part of this one was that the last 11 miles were on the dragon in the dark. Some guy with an Ironbutt tag on his S3 led me in, well he led me for about 100 yrds, then his taillight disappeared I did 1121 miles (Syracuse NY to Stilwell Kansas) on my 83 KZ750 in just under 24hrs way back in 1984. I used to have hair back then too! I still have the bike, it has just under 100,000 on it.

lots of 700+ mile days on my 01' Sporty (27,600 and counting). 770 in 14 hours, Sturgis and back, same day, including time spent wandering around Main Street. Maybe 450 miles in on day on the Firebolt (9800 and counting), from Denver to Sturgis, and back to a hotel in Newcastle, Wyoming. Not quite as comfy as the HD. If it weren't for pesky Law Enforcement types, I could make much better time on the XB in triple digit speeds. |

From one of the campgrounds in Yosemite to Phoenix (via the back roads Mammoth Lakes, SR 136, 190, 127, etc.). About 900 miles, just about killed an old man like me on my S3T. Killed my arms, neck and back. Never do it again that's for sure (in one day that is). -JW:> |

Coming back from East Stroudsberg, PA we went 1,100mi. in 17 hrs. I kind of feel like it was cheating though since it was all interstate and we ran about 75 most of the time. Dr. Advil was very helpful torwards the end. |
