My second gear jumps out when shifting fast and accelerating. If I shift and tap the throttle lightly it sets in OK. What could cause this? |

Check the shift detent plate and pawl adjustment. The plate can have the pins coming loose or be peened on the surface the roller rides on, the pawl could be out of adjustment, or your 2nd gear dogs could be rounded on the edges (only takes a few bunged hard shifts to F 'em up). All are relatively easy fixes. |

Mine did that and i ignored it until i got a false neutral from 5th gear into 4th and i almost crashed. Mine was rounded engagement dogs on the 2nd gear and 4th gear. |

Mine did the same, popping out of second. Not very safe to be expecting to be accelerating out of a turn and find that you are suddenly in neutral. Worn dogs require replacement of pairs of gears. Parts and labour cost $400 when I pulled the tranny from the bike, if I recall correctly. (In Canadian dollars.) Not cheap. |

It will just "surprise" you here and there. You should be fine for e weekend trip. If when you fix the problem consider having the tranny beefed up and have the gears back-cut. |
