I was Thinking about Taking the reflectors of the XB9R, and the Passenger Pegs. Is it legal to remove these partS? also do you know where i can get some Smaller Turn Signals? Here are the parts i think im going to remove. Also any Advice in removal of these? What i want to remove | ||

I know there is no law saying you have to have passenger pegs.. So you can take those off anytime you want.. Check your local laws before removing reflectors, there may be requirements that you have to meet to pass inspection/stay legal for the street. But, if there are no laws regulating it in your area, then go right ahead.. I'm not sure about the smaller turn signals, however I know that there are some that come with an new undertray that are mounted 'in' the undertray and don't stick out at all. I took off all the reflectors. I took off the rear passenger pegs I replaced the cheese grater on my 9s. I replaced the standard directions with some very trick smaller carbon fiber ones that I got at Cycle Gear. All in all, a very nice outcome. Also got a corbin seat, which is great! Re; Legality. Go for it and the cops will let you know. Please ignorance. Good luck. | ||

Bruce How did you remove the reflectors? Are they just stuck on there with double side tape. Also Do you know where i can get the turn signals that go under the seat? I have seen them for other bikes but not the buell firebolt. what are your opinions on the flag kit? im not sure if i like it. but most people i talk to like it. so im kinda 1/2 and 1/2 ben | ||

You can take off all of that stuff. It makes the bike look a lot cleaner. The front reflectors will come off with a hair dryer, and fishing line/dental floss. Then take off the remaining adhesive with Goo-Gone, and wash it. I like Kellermann turn signals. The removal of the rear reflectors requires the seat and entire rear plastics be removed. Be patient, there are several bolts that hold this on! It's very time consuming then to lossen the turn signal bolts as they are hard to get to. Just lossen them and slip the reflectors out. I'd rethink the aftermarket signals as most I've seen on other bikes are almost impossible to see from behind during the day. Just my opinion... | ||

Ilikehotchicks we have touched base on another board. I posted some pictures of my bike there today. I removed all the reflectors off my bike and have never had any run ins with the law. I also put this small oval turn signals I got at cycle gear that are just as bright if not more than stock. I'm with Dresden,Kellermann turn-signals on the Xb's is the way to go ! Living in the UK we don't have such strict laws on reflectors as in the US,I ditched mine about 45mins after picking-up my Xbs,did the pillion pegs at the same time to  | ||

I took of all reflectors. All warning stickers. Shortened the front signals (took the spacer out). The only thing that a cop has said to me is "nice bike, now slow down..."  | ||

OK, I have, in order of sequence! : - Race kit fitted before dealer delivery - Removed all warning stickers (incl VIN # sticker) - Removed all reflectors - Changed mirrors to teardrop shape & chrome - Cut off the grater, which required me to manufacture a bracket to take indicators and licence plate. - Due to licence plate width, had a bonus - I had to swap front indicators with rear so they could be seen - wanted front indicators closer in anyway! To do: - remove pillion pegs/hangers (once everyone I know with tits has had a ride!) - fit air scoop and oil cooler scoop in yellow/gold carbon fibre made by Roc/Rocky (in transit as we speak) - change stock licence plate to black text on white background custom plate "BLITZ" (German for Lightning) - fit rear hugger once one is available - fit XB12 belt guard (if possible) - thinking of removing "tank" stickers | ||

Trusty the tank logos came off fairly easy, you can warm it up with a blow dryer to help it along. How do you like the race pipe on yours? I am still undecided on which pipe to use on my 12S | ||

Coyote XB12S the only pipe thats really doing well is the DRUMMER on the 12's.Dyno charts are posted on another thread on this board. | ||

I noticed months later that my dealership sold me my 9R without the fork reflectors(see my pic in my profile). cops around here in Southern California could care less. You should see how loud guys make their pipes and car stereos around here. | ||

nice, i removed the front reflectors and one rear reflector in the very back. i chouldnt get the other 2 off. also removed the passanger pegs. and a couple stickers. Coyote Can you post a Close up Pic of the new turn signals i wana see what they look like before i buy them. also where can i get some smaller mirrors? Thanks guys Ben | ||

Coyote I like the Buell race kit pipe just fine. Mind you - I've never ridden a Buell without one, nor ridden, seen or heard any other Buell out on the road. VERY SMALL MARKET here in Perth, West Oz. But that is part of my girl's charm - no one really knows what she is! They hear her coming and figure on a H-D - don't they get a surprise when they turn around! Biggest smile I've ever had was last weekend - got my R6 riding mate to take my bike around the block - I finally got to see what other people see as I go thundering past! She is an absolute honey - and I thought my old Duc' 748 was sexy! | ||

That is one of the best things about owning a Buell, I do believe. I sure enjoy mine. I came out of a movie theater one time to find a couple of guys walking around it trying to figure out what it was. It was priceless! I am thinking about the Drummer pipe... | ||

Aftermarket is always best - and 9 out of 10 times road illegal too! never mind, i've never been queried about pipes on a bike. more often than not, the coppers here like to stop you just to have a good look and ask some questions, totally unrelated to law enforcement! As long as whatever pipe you choose has the 2 exhaust outlets, it'll be value for money! Looks much more balanced I think. | ||

I like the race kit, I lost the passenger pegs and the "mickey mouse" mirrors, changed the grips... I like to be SEEN; hence the yellow... I've been the victim of the "unseen" before... Trust me, you' re better off "living" with the reflectors... I've kept the urinal - I have to admit, I actiually like it!... Ok - I'm weird... I also replaced the Stop/Running Lamp w/ a flashing/rotating LED (1157 replacemet).. I like to be seen and heard! I installed some bright-blue glowing tag bolts -- don't know how legal they are? Put them on a switch just in case. Picked them up at the local AutoZone for about $15.00, switch about $5.00, installation about 1 hour. I will be seen especially at night (I've been hit from behind twice and very cognizant the rear-end possibilities that surround us while we ride.) If I'm running the lights in the OFF position you can't tell them from any other tag bolts. The switch is almost hidden up underneath the edge of the seat. Slick & easy install and a cheap "don't run over me" policy. Greg | ||

Hey BigDaddy, you should post some pics when you get a chance sometime. I'm admittedly curious. I'm definitely of the same mindset of being seen. No way I'm taking those reflectors off. My dad told me too many stories growing up of people not seeing him on his bike and him paying the price. He eventually stopped riding altogether because of it. So I like my reflectors ;o) | ||
