so not talking about any of the other problems so far . . .
my 2009 1125r with around 2200 miles on it had the check engine light check battery and low fuel lights winking on and off at different times since i took it home from the dealer after it's first services.
i took it to the dealer this weekend to have it checked out and the bike died on me and locked up at 20 miles from home.
got the bike to the shop and they replaced the stator. but there was also an arc scar on both sides of the rear seat hook, and one against the frame where it hooks. the guy i talked to wasn't a buell mechanic and didn't know anything about my bike, so ill have to see whats up when i go back to pick it up. in the mean time is there some magical fix for my problem child of a bike?

Sounds like the battery was arced to ground, hence the new weldments.

Get in touch with zac4mac and see if he can help you.

There should be a plastic shroud that will prevent the positive terminal from making contact with the subframe and seat. Is yours missing?

the positive cover is there(red plastic piece boxing in positive post), i think it was only connected to the negative post and the frame. seems weird because i thought it would need to connect to both.
ill get in touch with zack when i head down to pick it up this weekend

"the guy i talked to wasn't a buell mechanic and didn't know anything about my bike"

that is your problem, do not let a harley mechanic work on your buell, unless they have had buell training.

The negative terminal and the frame should be quite connected to each other already or things Won't Work at ALL. Negative ground electrical system and all that...

I'd second trying to find a better mechanic. Some (few?) Harley dealerships do have solid Buell mechanics, and *some* Harley mechanics are OK on the XBs, but I wouldn't let a non-Buell-trained Harley mechanic touch an 1125 at this point. They screw it up as often as they fix it.

Or just take it up to Santa Fe Harley : ) Bit of a trek, but they know what they're doing.

The arc protective plastic piece...only needs to be on the positive side of the battery..

The ground post on the battery..is the same as the acting ground on the bike chassis/frame..!

Only one required...

The problem occurred AFTER you took it home from the dealer for its FIRST service.

That is a bad omen.

to clarify, i was not able to speak to a buell mechanic when i called, the person who answered the phone was a harley mec.
but ya, the big problems started after my first services.

I think Murrae is Service Manager at Santa Fe.
If so they would be a great shop as Murrae is a HUGE Buell fan.

We have a good crew in Service.
Not saying they don't make mistakes, but they are very rare..

Our Master Harley tech recently replaced the water pump on a CR with the FSM at his side. Did an excellent job.
Max went to 1125 school in early 2008 and has been up to his elbows in Loretta, twice.

Your baby will be OK
