Trying to get the fork caps loose so I can change the fork oil. The fork legs are still in the bike, my plan was to pop the caps loose first then disassemble everything. I already broke one half inch ratchet and the mother ain't budging. Is it always this bad or did the idiot at the dealer that messed up my forks last time just put them at a 600 ft-lb torque? |

Something does not sound right either way. I have seen people use a 3 foot bar (mad or what) on a half inch ratchet and not bust it. I would suggest you remove the legs and take them to a Pro to fix. |

Loosen the upper triple clamp pinch screws. +1. Upper only, helps to remove the bars for good access. |

Thanks, but I already did those things. I finally got one of them loose. The other is no go. Tried impact driver, and heat, still nothing. I'm afraid that the wrench will slip off and I'll really screw something up. |

My life has now taken a new, huge leap forward. Rented an electric impact gun, went and drank 4 IPAs had my wife drive me home. Got in the garage, plugged it in, hit the button, couldn't stop it fast enough before it came ALL the way out. They said that within 1 day you get your rental credited toward purchase. I'm all in! Thanks for the suggestions. |
