http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/racing/fim-hearing -rossi-stoner-crash/

Well this shines an entirely different light on the events. A bunch of motorcycle racing enthusiasts volunteering their time so they can watch a MotoGP from trackside?? Of course they ALL wanted a chance to say "I helped the GOAT get back on the track!!"

Afterwards, they all probably wondered who the little guy who sounded like a whiny Crocodile Dundee was and why he was so upset...

It was a racing incident. Nothing more, nothing less. Boneheaded move? Maybe, but racing none-the-less.

Can me move on now?

Casey "No More Mr. Nice Guy"??

I'm sorry but... I missed the part where he ever WAS "Mr. Nice Guy?"

In fact, of EVERYONE on the MotoGP grid, I think the ONLY person that moniker would apply to would be Colin Edwards II (and James Toseland MAY disagree with that assessment... then again, from what I saw last year at Indy, maybe not).

As far as the Lagoona race, since you are Americans...... in a AMA race if a racer uses the dirt for an overtake move then rejoins the track and run his opponent wide , would he have been penalised ??

Superbikeplanet......isn't this the most hated moto-site for a USA Bueller , because of the blinded hate towards Erik's racing efford ???

Now suddenly *yellow army* fans use it as reference to prove how much Casey Stoner must be disliked ????

If it was F1 , there would have been penalties for wreckless or misjudged moves that decide races, both in Laguna 08' and Jerez '11.

F1 penalizes for a racing incident? I don't think so. It's not like Rossi plowed into Stoner a la Pedrosa into Hayden. He was nearly past him and just barely clipped his front wheel.

F1 is very much stricter than motoGP. It penalizes wreckless moves and incidents like running off track.

This is very debatable , since we would not like motoGP to become ballet dancing.

Since when was the moaner from downunder ver a nice guy? he has been a whining pain the backside since he started racing in UK 125 racing years ago and hasn't changed or matured one iota since. The reason he is so unpopular here in the UK has nothing to do with Rossi, but the fact that Stoner constantly complains about pretty much everything, never admits responsibility for anything, and treats fans like they are somehting he trod in on the way to the circuit.
This incident just shows how childish and churlish he remains despite winning a world championship and being a few years older.

If Stoner hadn't switched his engine off he could have restarted easily, period. I've wathced video of the incident taken by spaectators, and you can see plenty of assistance given to Stoner by corner workers trying to restart his bike after Rossi had ridden off (having kept his engine running).

Now all the moaning has prompted the FIM to launch an investigation into this crash (and ONLY this crash from a race full of crashes) which seems to be a result of pressure from Honda (even bigger moaners than Stoner if that is possible!). No mention of investigations into any other accident all weekend or at the previous GP where De Puniet took Capirossi out?

Pathetic. Someone at the FIM needs to grow some cajones and stop bowing to pressure from Mr Honda.

Jaimec, why are you such a Rossi fanboy, he does not race for Yamaha anymore ? Trojan ,I can understand he is British,

Rossi is Italian, so why should being British make a difference?

Much ado about very little. Rossi did not intentionally take Stoner out. He was trying to pass in marginal circumstances, and hid front tire washed out. Why aren't people bitching about Simoncelli crashing while he was leading the race; or Spies crashing out of second? Or any of the other half dozen people who crashed during the race? Rossi crashed on the Duck; Stoner should be the first to empathize with that scenario.

Not a "Rossi Fan Boy" at all, but it was a racing incident. Shit happens. Unlike the Pedrosa/Hayden incident, Rossi and Stoner are NOT Team Mates, and besides... it was RAINING. Rossi wasn't the only one to lose it that day.

If you go back and read my posts, I am talking more about Stoner's churlish behavior and the stupid way the track workers responded. Please check your reading comprehension skills.

The British have not had a 500/MotoGP champion since 1977,and 1981 was the last year a British rider won a 500GP . I watch GP's on tv Matt, Rossi has been a British fan favorite for years, and I post on a British MotoGP forum,Rossi is who most of the British posters on that forum post about.

""Rossi wasn't the only one to lose it that day.""

Unfortunately he was the only one to take one of the title contenders out of the race. The move was impossible to be succesful , it was a mistake , but it was acceptable. Stoner rightly got pissed off , and I am glad he showed it , instead of pretending that he is cool with it, which would have been theatrical.

Still many races left for Stoner to close the gap. His riding so far is great and listening to his words he seems that he is patient in the race too. The Duc had to be ridden at 100% for the tires to be working , and this affected Stoner's approach during the race on his Duc years. On the other hand the Honda seems to be able to work over a wider window, so we might see another more relaxed Stoner during races.

If Jerez was a dry race , Stoner would have won easier than he did in Qatar. His performance in QP , with the hard tires , were a clear indication.

It would be very wrong to think that British MotoGP fans are followers of Rossi simply because we don't have a home grown world champion (most of the rest of the world doesn't either), or that we don't appreciate otehr riders too.

The reason Rossi is very popular in the UK amongst British fans is that he is a real character (unlike most sporting 'personalities' these days), has a sense of humour, takes time to appreciate and spend time with his fans and above all is honest when he makes a mistake (something that British fans really do appreciate). The fact that he is the most talented and successful racer of his generation is a bonus of course.

You will always find some people will follow the most succesful team or personality in any sport (the vast majority of Manchester United 'fans' have never attended a game or been to Manchester!), but Rossi is a genuine sporting 'personality so has a huge worldwide following.

If you go to ANY GP anywhere in the world, you'll find the largest proportion of spectators wearing Rossi yellow : )

Stoner on the other hand, has spent years treating fans like sheep, refusing to shake hands, sign autographs or even appear in public. When he does, he is churlish and arrogant, so it is little surprise that people don't like him, and although I disagree with him getting bood on stage a few years ago I can appreciate why it happened.
He is apparently totally different when in private, so he has no excuse really. He has chosen to take part in a very high profile sport and therefore should accept that he will be in the spotlight and has to meet/greet fans and the press. If he doesn't like it maybe he should try a less visible sport?

The reason Rossi is very popular in the UK world amongst British moto racing fans is that he is a real character (unlike most sporting 'personalities' these days), has a sense of humour humor, takes time to appreciate and spend time with his fans and above all is honest when he makes a mistake (something that British racing fans really do appreciate). Corrections accepted..............except for the spelling of humour of course : )

(and countless other poor English words that have been slaughtered by our 'common language' ; ) )

The Americanism that really annoys me at the moment seems to the current watchword of UK politicians ...and that is...

Incentivised (or incentivized to give it the correct US spelling I suppose)

THERE IS NO SUCH WORD!!!!!!!!! PLEASE STOP USING IT PEOPLE!!!! You can offer an incentive but you cannot incentivise anything.............................Ho hum, back to arguing over racing : )

Seems to be..It appears that Cal Crutchlow is the latest to pop in for a bit of arm surgery whilst in Italy today. Maybe he was feeling left out : (

It amazes me that these guys either have a huge pain threshold or are pretty superhuman when it comes to recovery from injury/surgery. If I had similar operations to any that Rossi/Crutchlow/Melandri/Pedrosa have subjected themselves to over the winter I'd still be in bed now!
