Author Message   Brokeneck Posted on Sunday, April 03, 2011 - 03:53 pm:        It's propably just a ooincidence -- but the speedo on my 2000 S3 went out -- first time I tried to ride at exteneded highway speeds the bike barely runs -- last time it did this it was a temp sensor -- but since it runs great around town I was wondering if the EFI uses the speedo for operating info?   Hybridmomentspass Posted on Sunday, April 03, 2011 - 05:57 pm:        no I dont even have a speedo on my bike (drag bike), and it made zero difference to the running of the bike   Ratbuell Posted on Sunday, April 03, 2011 - 09:34 pm:        But if your speed sensor went out, THAT can absolutely have an effect. Is it dead gauge? If the sensor is proper F*$KED, perhaps it's dragging on the ECU? I agree with the above, just unhook it and tape the connector. See if it does anything at all different. That didn't start until the XB12 in 04. It NEEDS a 5 volt regulated power source, but it is getting battery voltage. The replacement sensors have a regulator built in. The regulator solved the speed sensor issues that plagued the 1999-2003 tubers. It could be something else, but it isn't very likely. Make sure you get the correct updated part. I'd just order it from American Sport Bike.
