Anybody here used this? The reviews look good, I think I'm going to give it a shot. Unless somebody tells me theirs suck.

It's been out for a bit but I have yet to see a helmet mounting system I trust on a bike.

I have a tunebug and I think it is awesome. The Gecko mounting strap that comes with it works great. I just made sure to cleaning my helmet where the adhesive goes with rubbing alcohol first. Sound quality is really pretty good. Obviously it is not as good as good earphones, but I am not looking for an audiophile experience. I just want to jam to some good tunes while I am out riding. The bluetooth works flawlessly with my ipod. I did have to readjust the tension on the mounting straps to eliminate a buzz. Other than that I have NO complaints. It is really nice not having to worry about ear buds falling out or wires pulling.

If you have any other questions let me know.

I've read some feedback that says the volume may not be loud enough at highway speeds. Any thoughts?

Volume is fine at highway speed. 65, 75, 85. All sounds good. My biggest problem is the quality of MP3's some are louder than others. I think this is an issue whether you use earbuds or the tunebug though.

Use a freeware programme called "MP3Gain" to adjust the sound level of your MP3s it'll "level them" so they are all the same volume.

I use a set of "Bass Monsters" in my helmet, again much better than ear buds..

Tunebug was planning to bring out a more powerful version for motorcyclists called the Quake, but that was last year. I don't see it on their website lately, so maybe it's still in development. I think that one would work better than the Shake for us having to deal with greater amounts of traffic and wind noise than bicyclists.

As well as the Shake works on my bicycle helmet, I've found it doesn't work that well on my MC helmet at speed - not loud enough. But I don't know, maybe that's my fault because I didn't mount it correctly.

Where are you guys putting the Gecko mount, top or back?

I am putting the Gecko mount on the back. It is true what you say about the Quake and I have also looked for it. In fact last July I emailed the company in regards to when it was going to come out. I was responded to by the owner of the company. His response basically stated that they were going to be boosting the output of the Shake and to wait until August to buy. I did so and have been pleased so far. As I stated before, there is some messing around required for the best output/sound. Some may find it too much of a hassle.

Hmmmmm. I wonder if you can sync 2 units bluetooth simultaneously.....

Maybe in stereo!

Nah. One will be enough.

For now.

Hey, Cmludwick.
what helmet do you have? I wear an arai, and Arai's are generally noisy, I am wondering if it would be worth getting one of these when its time to replace my headphones. I think I have gone through 3 or more sets of headphones at 20 a pop in the last year or two. Also, how long have you had the tunebug? Durability would also be a concern. Thanks for the info.

Cml, what kind of battery life are you getting with your tunebug?

They say the battery is good for 5 hrs, but maybe I got one of the earlier ones because I can barely hear it with ear plugs @ full volume for approx 1 hr. while riding, not in the living room. I've never got close to 5 hrs of listening regardless of the volume.

I guess I average about 2.5 hrs or so. I figure the bluetooth really drains the battery faster than if I plugged in.

Wow, 2.5 hrs. That's great!

But maybe I should be concerned that I'm not getting more than 1 hr of service out of my Shake after fully charging? Perhaps if my battery has degraded, maybe I should call their customer service and have it checked out?

Finally got the time to order, should be here tuesday.

99 Bucks from the company website, since there has been some indication that there was a change in the build, I wanted to make sure I got the later version.

I'll post any thoughts as they come up. Kind of excited, cause I really have missed my tunes on my commute. (For the last 5 years....!)

Any more feedback on this?
I ordered one but will be offshore at work for another 10 days before I can try it out.

Suprisingly good sound, loud enough to hear over the Drummer. Gotta play with the position to get the best sound.

I plan to experiment with the attachment system. Had one of the little velcro like pads come off, but may have been my error in installation.

Fascinating technology!

I went with the Interphone F4. Had mine for about 2 years and love it most of the time.

Being a geek - I use BT audio, and have had calls on it. Great volume for both. Wind noise is eliminated unless you blow on the speaker or it's directly in the wind. Seems to get hard to hear around 85-90 on my bike, but still doable. At 60 and less most people can't tell i'm on the bike unless they know or hear the engine wind up a bit passing someone.

Stereo headset in the helmet is decent - not audiophile, but good. I've streamed Pandora on my phone during a quick commute w/o dropped audio (more a testament to cell coverage and pandora...)

Also use mine as intercom when i ride w/ GF. Got her same model and pairing them takes a minute - about 1/8 - 1/4 mile real world range. Mostly dependent on buildings and line of sight.

pretty inexpensive compared to similar i looked at. hunt around and ~150 ea!
