My 1125r has a birthday coming up and I need to get her something. I'm thinking maybe a back up camera and LCD monitor to eliminate the ugly bar end mirrors. Anyone know which ones are best? I've been searching eBay and Amazon and using Nextag and looking for reviews. I keep coming across 2.5 and 3.5 inch TFT LCD license tag mount cameras (Peak and PVR brands?) but I can't find anything on how far back they "see" and how well the camera resists weather. I found a 7" screen unit from Pyle that's only $70 from Sears and I bet I could hack up the monitor and fit it under the giant Sport Touring screen. I have seen it. However, I like my helmet and don't like my bar end mirrors. Plus I am looking at spending $50-75 bucks not 5 times that much. I love my bike, but this birthday she is getting a token of my affection...no major coin. Thanks anyway. Has anyone got a recommendation for a back up cam? Has anyone tried that mod out and found out the range of view? The weather resistance of the license tag style cam etc? Thanks in advance. | ||

I had a 2.5" VR3 setup originally but the screen is too small. Upgraded to a 3.5" screen and it was a vast improvement. Last month I upgraded the camera to a good quality CMOS Infrared one and am very pleased. 3" screen fits perfectly in the bottom of the arch of the fairing mount (I have a double bubble screen) and the picture quality is superb. I started with a wireless cam but TBH the signal isn't up to the job so upgraded to a wired connection. The camera is powered by the back light and the screen uses the same cable to transfer power to the screen. Thanks a bunch. I found a number of similar kits on eBay and Amazon...but some of the listings are confusing (or confused) and it's not always clear if the kit has an adjustable camera or if the monitor is 3.5" or not. I messaged one vendor and he gave me an 800 number instead of answering my question. Sigh. I appreciate the help. Just want to get the "right" set up first time around. | ||

The camera from eBay isn't "plug and play" as the VR3 system uses a proprietry cable system but it was a 15 min job to adapt it and that gives IR/night vision and a depth guage.. Oh, just one thing worthy of note.. Look for a display that allows you to rotate and flip the input from the camera.. If you don't "flip" the image it won't be a mirror view and can be a bit confusing, for example the screen will show a car approaching from your rear right but in reality the car is on your rear left.. The VR3 unit allows you to flip/rotate the image so you can have the camera at any angle and the image still shows the right way up/right "reflection"... that's handy LOL | ||
