cuzzin' Bob, first off it's good to see that you finally got your frikkin' computer (or server or ISP or whatever...) fixed -- this ol' dump jes' ain't the same without you.

second of all, since you kicked my ass so brutally (no K-Y or nuthin'!) at ThunderCross during SPLASH, the least you can do is get yer soggy little buns down here for this deal so's i can return the favor!

besides, fall is here and i'm not sure how much longer our PERFECT F**CKING WEATHER is gonna last...

there, is THAT enough loophole for you??? ;)

It was pretty hot when I was there today - also there is a unique opportunity there for any Blastards to get a photo op in a Blasting zone.
If its that hot tomorrow they'll need to serve lots of fluids - dunno - I tooled all around the area - interesting - lol -

Jim,sitting here at firehouse watching an engine get ready to head to San Diego county as I write. It's terrible watching the homes burn in SoCal,the winds and flames are near unstoppable it seems,at times.Hope for everyone to be safe.(And,of course, they tell me I am not going home tomorrow also, damn.

Jim - Went out to the BattleTrax today. Ferris was there and took home a trophy - 2nd in street class for top time.

The courses were great. Lots of room, so Reg set up one course for top time and a second for the bracket class. Tight turns, but fairly longish straights, and no 360's like he usually throws in. Also, the area is against the foothills, so there were elevation changes. Nice change from the usual flat parking lot courses at the other events I've attended. Too bad the turnout wasn't better. I'll bring the photos to American Sport Bike Night.

That's a long shift but hope you're not too busy, enough is burning down in SoCal.

FMJ,

Mother nature will be the one that will control what is happening down there in So Cal. Its is very sad to watch play out on the news, all involed are in our thoughts. My wife is very thankful that I no longer chase wildfire all over the country!

Ezblast,

Those are some great pictures, thanks for sharing em with us. It looks like fun was had by all! Did Ferris keep the rubber side down this time? :)

Yea he did - but he was lighting up the tires good in the corner with that S-1 of his. Yea it was a lot of fun meeting him and saying hi to the rest! Redge looked great for how busy he's been and there was a time when heat ment nothing to me (Mn Eng. Rm Fireman in the Navy - 600lb boilerroom & some teen years in Palm Springs) - spoiled by SF - I thought I was melting! Had a great time though!

One more thing - the only other Blasterd there was a young lady whose name I missed, however, I did not miss how fast she was going through the tracks or how fast she was getting back in line for another shot at them!

Great Job! Thanks Redge!

cool pix EZBlast!!! thanks for introducing yourself, wish we'd had more time to chat, if you're ever down the Lake Isabella way give a shout, k? :)

missed you FMJ, but understand. both yesterday and today we saw convoy after convoy of fire trucks heading south. y'all be safe out there.

Jim, Ferris did indeed keep his rubber down this time, altho there were some close calls. D205s are NOT the tire of choice for this stuff, but i dropped the front to 25 psi and the rear to 28 (hot pressures) and that seemed to help.

had a whole gaggle of top guns there today, and i told Denise after it was all done this is the VERY hardest i've ever had to work to bring some BattleTrax hardware home.

the Thong (orange S1W in pix above) did quite well, and got some admiring looks and some very nice compliments in the process.

dammit, tho, i'm pretty much exhausted -- neither me or the Thong are getting any younger...

ride two lean,
FBad

EZBlast, her name (if i'm remembering correctly) is Amy, and (if i'm remembering correctly) she work for McGuire H-D/B, and shortly after you left she had a pretty gnarly low-side. the bike ended up on top of her legs and had to lifted off of her before she could get up.

i rode out on the course on the Thong and did a quick medical assessment. nothing broken altho lots of ankle pain. no helmet impact or loss of consciousness or the like, but she did finally admit that she was feeling dizzy.

got her out of her black helmet and gloves so she could better dissipate heat, and when i was convinced she was basically ok, gave her a ride back to the pits on my bike.

we got her immediately sitting down in the shade with a bag of ice on her ankle and lots of water to rehydrate.

she's a trooper -- later, when the finals were being run in the Target Time class, she was actually considering climbing back on her bike and showin' 'em how it's done!

better judgment prevailed (her ankle was a gorgeous shade of greenish-blue by this time) and she sat it out, smiling all the while, in spite of it all still having a great time.

hope she's feeling ok today, she was fun to watch out there, a real enthusiast :)

What time did the event wrap up? I had a commitment for my best friend's birthday party, and tried to weasle out a bit early. By the time I got out to the Battletrax area, it was almost 4:45PM.

Hopefully the Blast gal is okay. Those injuried oftentimes hurt more the second day than they do the first. I had no plans to ride in the Battle since I know I suck on sport bikes. I should probably get comfortable turning on the roadways before I try to go fast. It's a weird transition from big twin Softails and Dynas to a Buell....

Mike, Reg shut it down about 3 p.m. or so. he's very good at knowing when to say when, before the heat and persistant adrenaline starts dumping people on the ground.

it took he and his crew about another 30 minutes to tabulate results, and then they proceeded with the trophy presentations.

he's doing a very cool thing these days (at least when he's got the physical room to do so) by running two separate courses simultaneously. one side is for the Top Time competitors, the other is for "Target Time" (bracket) competition.

a person can take home some nice hardware from the target competition even if they're the very slowest rider on hand, just by being consistent.

that said, there's no reason for anyone NOT to do a BattleTrax. heck, even on the top time "only" events, Reg has always encouraged EVERYONE to ride, regardless of perceived skill level and brand/style of bike.

you don't HAVE to try to beat everyone out there; having a great time is the important thing, and EVERYONE supports EVERYONE, man, woman, fast, slow, and everything in between.

and this has been the case at every BattleTrax i've ever been to (since the inaugural event at Blue Groove/The Sequel in '97), and it's a Very Cool Thing :)

Amy will be ok, altho i KNOW she's sore today. it was frightening at first because she didn't move or get up, and we all thought she might have been unconscious. turns out she COULDN'T get up because the bike was on top of her legs.

she had every intention of going to work today, she said, and it wouldn't have taken much encouragement yesterday for her to have gotten back out on the course.

like i said, she's a real enthusiast :)
