Hello Badweb! Long time lurker, first time poster here. I've got an '09 1125CR-- What an amazing machine! Anyway... I love the clubman bars that came stock, but have switched to the high bar kit. The problem is the reach on the clubs is just too far foward for my torso/arms. I've ridden many supersports that I find more comfortable simply because its not such a long reach to the bars. The high bar is great around town, but not so great for trackdays (done one so far, more to come soon!) or for more sporting back road riding. The clubmans are just so cool though. I love the style, and I love the "sportbike" riding position. On to the question: Has anyone successfully modified the clubmans? Can I have a shop cut and weld the handle part of the bars about 1" closer, and perhaps slightly increase the downward or backward angle? Can it be rewelded then re-powder coated? Or: Has anyone found clubman or other bars that maintain a lower riding position, but are a bit closer? Thanks for any thoughts -Spiff | ||

Just for the sake of history, adjustable bars like those from Omar were on Laverda 1000's back in the seventies. They were made by Tommaselli. Cool to see the idea still around. | ||

Jules- Thanks for the links, but I think the CR has tapered bars, so 7/8" wont do. Chrome might be a bit odd on a black CR also. Your link makes me wonder if there's anything like that to fit the CR? | ||

Woodcraft makes clip one with risers, BUT, of course they don't make the size for our forks. I think that would be perfect and fall between the clubmans and high bars. | ||

That's so funny that you mentioned this... I have been meaning to post up the same question. It seems like a flat bar would be almost ideal. I did a little bar shopping at a couple local mx shops but couldn,t find what I needed. Maybe a trip to a HD dealer or a chopper type shop might turn something up? I would love to hear if anyone has found something between the clubman and high bar! | ||

I'd like the clubmans a little closer together and closer to me would be nice. The stock bars are tapered, so you'd have to modify those adjustable bars or just modify the stock ones. Does anyone have some clubman bars they are willing to part with for cheap? I'd take them to a shop, but i'm not going to use my bars. | ||

I like those! Do those require removal of top clamp and slide over fork, or are they 2-piece clamps that you can just take apart so the top clamp doesn't have to be removed? | ||

Clip-ons of any type really aren't an option for me... I want to maintain a handlebar, and the use of my GPR stabilizer. Has anyone ever tried flipping the stock clubmans upside down? I was messing around in the garage playing with my clubmans off the bike, and I flipped them over. When rotated up a bit, it puts the bars in what could be an ideal position. About an inch higher, and an inch closer than stock.} | ||

SUCCESS!! I tried flipping the clubman bars. It worked perfectly! I did some searching, and found very few who have done this, and they seemed to like it so I tried it. So, I kept all my highbar-kit cables and lines, but simply swapped the clubman bar in upside down. The Position is great! It is perhaps 1.5" higher and closer than stock clubmans. I no longer feel cramped and forced so high upright like with the high bars. It is so much easier to move around on the bike, and tuck out of the wind. It is also way more comfortable for my frame that either the high bars or the stock clubs. The only problem is I broke the cheap plastic adjuster on my throttle cable.  Looks like I'll have to order another. I worked on lots of bikes, and the way the throttle cables/housing etc go together really stinks on this bike. Also, I destroyed the stock glued grip trying to remove it. Luckily I had another lying around. Can't wait to ride... | ||

I was thinking of having a set of bars modified to give a more downward angle. I like the down angle of the clumans that I installed on my xb9s and the CR bars feel too "flat" to me. the only fear is that once I sink a bunch of money in having them modified they could be bent or destroyed if I lay her down at the track again. Clip-ons might be a better solution for me. | ||

Here is an example of the Clubman Bars turned over and flipped right to left. It raised them up but it puts your hands on a strange angle and you have to have the longer throttle cables and longer brake and clutch lines for the high bar conversion.    | ||

Buellhusker... Your bars are rotated basically vertical... mine are rotated about 45 degrees forward. Feels very natural. | ||
