Just wondering where you rerouted the tank breather tube to? Mine is attached to the left side passenger peg and wonder where i could put it cause i want those back pegs off, they just get in the way all the time. |

I actually removed the entire reroute kit and just dropped a fresh line like it was before the service bulletin. (right side) I don't have an issue with the fumes because I leave the bike outside till it cools down and I also have a fan inside that cools the bike down and pushes any fuel smell out the door. I figured that the purpose of the reroute was to give the line more length to allow for expansion and to also keep any potential drips away from the exhaust. With that in mind, I moved it and made my new line a bit longer (1-2 inches) to clear the exhaust. |

Just dropped mine off, zip tied to the clutch hyd. line. No obvious liquid has ever come out of my vent, so I've got no concern about liquid on the hot header (slip-on). As for any explosive vapor...it's dissipated quickly enough. Mike |

I routed mine to the right side of the bike going down the rear edge of the frame, behind the rear set and exiting beside the muffler. |

Ausxb, I just did the same thing on my bike. The only concern is that tube is touching the rear cylinder head and wonder if you have had any problem with that getting too hot or melting? |

I cut the hard plastic line real short, and got some rubber line, easier to run out of the way. Then I ran the hose down along the rear brake line and out. |

I left mine in the stock location for 2008 models. |

I would have left mine, but I took off the rear peg mounts and that tube attached itself to it. So i just routed like Ausxb did above and went for a ride. Everything looks good so far, hope it stays that way. |

"Ausxb, I just did the same thing on my bike. The only concern is that tube is touching the rear cylinder head and wonder if you have had any problem with that getting too hot or melting?" I haven't had any trouble but you could sheath it if worried. The molded curves of the hard plastic line seems to fit well through there and drips clear of the bike on the side stand. |

Ran the breather to the rear licence plate and positioned the tube outlet so fuel does not drip onto belt or tyre |

I put the bolts back in that were holding the peg bracket on. The rear bolt, I zip tied my tender plug to. The front bolt, I zip tied the breather hose to, cut the hard line short to keep it out of sight, and put on a short rubber extension out to the side so when/if it drips, it clears the swingarm. |

Thanks for this thread, I think Im going to reroute mine cause I like to hang my helmet on the clutch side passenger peg But I made that mistake ONCE after the recall/move and (thank goodness)the faceshield was open and I had my gloves in the helmet. I got on, put my helmet on, put one glove on, put the other on and instantly knew something was wrong. My fingers were cold. And wet. And smelled like gas. Maybe I'll mess with that today.... |

Here's what I did... http://i552.photobucket.com/albums/jj338/1nameneed ed/P12-09-09_0940.jpg http://i552.photobucket.com/albums/jj338/1nameneed ed/P12-09-09_0941.jpg http://i552.photobucket.com/albums/jj338/1nameneed ed/P12-09-09_094101.jpg With a small metal tube you could prob direct the opening a bit more away from the bike so it misses the belt guard. I wipe down my bike regularly so don't care much. |

I cut the hard line where it exits under the tailpiece and put on a fuel resistant tube and routed that down by the left foot peg behind the guard. I have an inspection plate there that grabs it perfectly with no need for clamps. The short time I let it piss all over my swing arm ruined the powdercoat and made it foggy looking. Grrrrr. |

I have one more question. I just realized this, but i bought my bike out here in California and it wasnt connected to the carbon canister at all. The online line that is attached to it right now is the one that goes to the throttle bodies. How would i go about getting rid of that carbon canister? just plug up the hose so no air can get in it? |

What models/years was it rerouted on? I pulled the pegs off my 08 and there wasn't a tube attached? |

Josh, this is what my left passenger peg looks like on the back, the bracket is where the tank breather went
Here is where i ran mine, looks pretty good, and it will keep the fuel away from dripping on parts of the bike.
This next one is the view looking down through the top of where the seat would be. the blue part is the frame and the hose going down next to the cylinder head is the tank breather.

I ran mine across the bike and out on the right hand side. Comes out behind the rearset Secured with two cable ties with the rest of the cables already there. Can't even see it. Does touch the exhaust and been like that for a year. No holes or cable clamps. |

I'll have to go look not cause I sure don't have a clamp on my peg. 'Course it's possible I didn't have the pegs on the bike when the dealer installed the update. |

Here's what I did. . .
Routed the fuel breather through the left rear turn signal grommet. Also hit the passenger pods with a little metallic paint.

Mine cannot be seen at all, and drips straight to the floor.

Mine cannot be seen at all, and drips straight to the floor. Well, that just makes too much sense... Actually hoped that lengthening the breather might reduce the post-ride drip, will have to wait and see. |

Had H-D pay to have the carb canister installed on my 49-state '09R, at which point the vent tube disappeared. Removed my rear pegs shortly afterwards ... Now where did I store those things?! Mike |
