.. down at buttonwillow raceway outside of Bakersfield CA, here's a short compilation of my weekend!

i got a GoPro HD for xmas this year, and i FINALLY got a chance to try it out! a friend of mine let me borrow his HD as well, so i was filming two angles at the same time all weekend long. i did my best newbie attempt at cutting and pasting the two views together for the sections where it was the same footage, the rest is just highlights of the entire weekend stuck together!

hope you all enjoy!

Nice video, and good taste in music : )

That super Moto style guy was z accident waiting to happen !!

Also in a few shots of your yokes, it looks like the left fork is sitting a bit shorter than the right, may just be the light but worth checking.

Nice video. I knew that guy on the super Moto was a problem before he bumped into the other rider. What software did you use to put it all together, music and video clips? I just picked up a Go Pro. It didn't come with any editing software.

Very nice. We'll have to promote you to PizzaMan. I'm amazed at how stable the camera picture is when it's attached to the bike. The low shots are really nice.

Agreed. That goofball on the SM was trouble, lazily weaving edge to edge on a slower bike is nuts. Were I following, I'd give him a very wide berth prior to passing. I assume that was him off the track when you were looking over your shoulder.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing. I dig the music too.

Your lean angles towards the end at 9:47 (right after motard incident) and 9:58 are mighty impressive. Looks like you made a lot of progress in lap time and track skill.

The front and rear suspension views are interesting.

The wheelie pass at 3:44 looks like you intentionally lofted over the slower rider's shadow; how considerate.

The video frame rate strobe effect of the front disk at 3:31 and again later at 4:04-4:07 combined with the sharp shadowing is nicely artistic; worthy of some stills.

I posted some of the above to your video comments and noticed that youtube creates hyperlinks to the video time slots mentioned in the comments. That's really neat.

I want a GoPro baaaaaad. Not that I can ride like that...but still.

Watching you I can't help but wonder why you don't get your upper body off center. You hang your butt off...but not your shoulders or head. Just a thought.

About halfway through the video I noticed the bolts holding the front fairing just spinning around. I know they are secure with nylock nuts...but I wonder if that might be fretting or wearing on the body work.

Love the music...great video. Thanks!

I also noticed your back light on your instrument cluster appears to be flashing. What's that about?

The flashing IC is probably due to the frame rate of the camera and the pulses of the stator/reg. You wouldn't see this with your eyes on the bike, just in the recording. Like if you record a tv...

Nice vid. Do you know what setting you used and what did you use to edit?

thanks for the positive feedback guys!

@avalaugh and pmjolly: the goofball on the supermoto WAS an accident waiting to happen! a few of my group of friends chatted with the guy in general throughout the weekend and it sounded like he was pretty new to track riding; certainly so since he didnt grasp the concept of holding a line!!! most people try to eliminate turns on a track to get faster.. he was adding turns just by having such horrible lines! at the very end where i was looking back over my shoulder during the helmet cam mount was for the incident directly after the SM scene. someone grabbed a hand full of brakes that caused them to lock up the front, get tossed and launch their bike into the air! watch it again! super nutty!!

checked the fork height, theyre within .01" of each other.

@pmjolly and others: the software i used to put this together was sony vegas pro, however im not sure thats the software im going to stick with for the long term. im on a PC, so i cant utilize any of the cool mac software, but there are a couple good options available. vegas has good, but a little too complicated for my simpleton, basic computer using abilities! haaa!!

@blake and others: im past the 2 year mark for diligent track riding, averaging around 1 weekend a month, 9 months out of the year lately. im happy with where im at currently; in order to ride any faster i needed to do brake upgrades to be able to get the bike slowed back down. after this last track weekend, i set myself up with an R6 brake master cylinder.. HUGE improvement on brake feel, but it really wont pass the full test until after my next track day. currently ive already done EBC HH pads and motul RBF fluid to aid in its brake-ability. the only other mods ive really done for track riding to be able to get the lean angles im currently comfortable with has been pirelli PRO slicks and some fork internals from race tech.

@blake, pmjolly and others: the strobe effect of the IC and rotor are just effects of frame rate recording. the IC does actually flash (its not solid lit) but its doing it faster than your eye can detect. the rotor view was just downright badass IMO, im going to continue to use that in my future videos (yes, im going to share them with you fellow 1125 lovers!!)

@mountainstorm: thanks for the compliments on my riding! my body position is no where near perfect; im not consistent, it still changes often. i havent really perfected my style yet. while i was watching and sorting through my raw footage to make the video from, i noticed a LOT of disparity and variation in the way i move around the bike. im still trying to teach myself to get my head down and to stop continually shifting my weight through a corner- it really makes a difference on the chassis behavior with the minor weight changes on the tank and footpeg! also to note, i was taking it easy on my bike all weekend long, trying to conserve the last of my brake pads (plus i dont want to wad up my bike first track day of the new calendar year!!!), since i went into the track day with probably only 20% pad life left. they were fully cooked off by sunday afternoon, i had to sit the last session out, since i would have been buying a new rotor on monday if i had rode it anymore than just back into the trailer.

i forgot to tighten down my fairing nuts and bolts for the first time ever that whole weekend! i must really have been focused on my go pro; i didnt notice they were lose until i took them off to reinstall my mirrors after i got home!!

@skntpig: i used the r2 and r3 settings both all weekend long. 90% of the footage is just in 720p, 30fps, but i recorded at 60fps a couple times just so that i could screw around with the 1/2 speed effects, that i really ended up using none of except for that wheelie pass that blake commented on around 3:40. using the 960 and 1080 settings change the aspect ratio into a not-as-wide field of vision.. plus they soak up memory MUCH more quickly! 720 seems sharp enough, dont you guys think??

thanks again guys! ill make sure to post up my future videos on the forum as they come along this summer. i average 1 track weekend a month, so i should have another 6 little videos to post up by the season's end!

Awesome video! Once you get the mounting positions dialed, the quality of the video is all in the editing, and it shows here the work you put in.

The image quality of the GoPro HD is just superb. At 4:50 the clarity with which you can see the forward nuts on your fairing stays spinning from the engine vibration is awesome. I don't know why they didn't fall out!

Great riding/filmaking and can't wait to see more your your videos.

An oldie-but-goodie, here's my GoPro movie edit with picture-in-picture through Deal's Gap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssH9JA6ihvo

So Tony, were you at least able to edit the 1080 video even though you didn't use it? I can't watch the video at work here, but I will when I get home.

You anticipate going to Buttonwillow again? I know it's a long haul from Reno.
