I have been thinking of sending in the forks and rear shock to Racetech, anyone used them? Any DIY kit recommendations? | ||

Ask them about the shock. They certainly do the forks. Seriously though, consider re-springing and re-valving while they're in there. | ||

The gold valve re-valving is worth the money. Talk to them about not just rebuilding but RE-DOing them for your riding intentions. We're talking tuning and I think that the gold valves only add a couple hundred $. | ||

Another option is Traxxion. They make several different products and offer various 'stock' tuning services. I recently picked up a set of forks with AK20 cartridges and a matching rear shock. Haven't installed them yet, though. Very eager to...after I put new rubber on the bike. | ||

I'll tell you - Traxxion has 20+ years of experience setting up Buell Racing suspensions. They are who I use for forks and shocks. Racetech is not bad but I still ship to Traxxion except the one time I was OUT of time and could drive them to Racetech. If you're in Sandy Eggo, I could see why you're talking Racetech. Catalyst Reaction and Lindeman (now owned by Ed Sorbo) are also So CA based and typically are out at Willow Springs on race weekends. | ||

Catalyst, Sorbo/Lindeman and Traxxion are suspension products re-sellers and ALSO will work with you to get the setup on your choice of hardware - all of them sell all the name makes of shocks, forks and valves/springs. Traxxion has their suspension dyno and can dial-in the settings pretty danged close so you can hit the ground running with only minor tweaks. You can get cheaper but it's often better to get a suspension company who works WITH you trackside. | ||

Find a local suspension guy with lots of race experience and have him tell you what to do with them. You'll get much better bang for your buck. For $900 I dropped my bike off and when I picked it up it had new springs in front and new valving front and rear. | ||

I got my forks done by racetech, felt much better than stock but after a few months I noticed they bottomed out easier. Last October I was doing a track day and paid Catalyst for a days worth of support by the 3rd session the pre-load and rebound were maxed out on the forks. The Catalyst guy said he has seen this before with racetech forks and suggested for them to redo them. I was going to go back to racetech to see what was up and if I got the correct springs and valves but my rod bearing went later that day and have not ridden my Buell since. Should be back on the road in a couple days and I'll be contacting racetech in the next month or so to get some answers. If you do track days I would suggest finding a shop that does track days like Calalyst. That way you can get support at the track and have it really dialed in for you. | ||

The other thing to use as a resource is the track-side tire vendor. they can also really help spot tire AND suspension issues. Face it, even the best suspension takes quite a few sessions to get close. | ||
