Can someone direct me to the location of the isolators so I can see if mine need to be replaced. This is the second X1 I've owned. My first one didn't seem to vibrate as much as the current one I own. It has been 11 years since I've ridden one.....so did I just forget how much they shake?? I don't remember it being this bad. Current X1 is and '01....Any pics would be great....... |

Here's a great picture of a cutaway view of a new style isolator. There are pictures showing them being replaced. Isolators are where the frame attaches to the swingarm mounting block. You can't miss them. http://danielcstarr-pages.blogspot.com/2008/09/una uthorized-scott-free-technique-for.html |

If you think the rears are bad, try lifting up the tail of the bike. If the tube frame moves relative to the isolator bolt, you got a bad one. When mine went bad, the mechanic used this trick. The damage couldn't be seen until it was out of the bike. Teeny tiny cracks and the whole thing was saggy-looking. |

My bike seemed to vibrate a lot and it was a front isolator. It would be directly behind the center of the triple tree. Here is a pic of my bad one.

Question: Are the bolts in the rear isolators centered in the holes?? Mine are not....should they be?.....Any pics of good ones installed?? Thanks |

No, they're off center. |

Yes, that's normal. Engine isn't happy until then, and the isolator system doesn't smooth things out below there either. |

Severe vibrations (sharp hard vibrations) are probably a bad front isolator. Easy enough to check. |

Look directly behind where the triple tree (steering head) goes through the frame. It is right in front of the gas tank. My picture above shows my bad front isolator. |
