Just had one of the best customer experiences ever.

For those of you that have been around for a while, you may recall that when the Drummer was in development, I was a tad anxious. (Is it ready yet? How about now? Now? Is it ready yet? Etc...)

I got the second production unit. Happy then, Happy now, Happy happy. Dyno tested it before and after, got great results not just from the Dyno numbers, but with the streetability. This guy has been doing it for a long time, and really knows how to make an exhaust.

You may also recall a couple of posts where I described a couple of times that I was a bit less than gentle, and really just posted because I was absolutely amazed that the can on the exhaust survived. Usually when you hit a pothole (6 feed across) and bottom out the lowest point (The leading edge of the can) hard enough to have a quarter inch of asphalt peeled up and stuck to the metal, you would expect it to fold up like a beer can. It didn't. I had everything tightened to specs, and it hit hard enough to crush my nuts, smack my face shield on the display, and SLIDE THE CAN BACK ON THE MIDPIPE TILL IT WAS TOUCHING THE BACK TIRE. WITH THE CLAMPS TIGHT!

Second event was with an asphalt speed bump. Not quite as brutal, but pretty severe.

Both times, I said to myself, I said, "Self, that's amazing. This guy is a better welder than you are at demolition."

Both of these happened pretty early in my ownership.

Fast forward to the beginning of this month. I went on vacation to do some riding in and around Leaky, TX. Last day of my stay, the bike suddenly got about 50% louder. The front plate of the can had separated from the body, and put an early end to my day. Se la vie.

Get home, pull everything apart, and call Kevin the next day. He says, "No worries. Box it up and ship it to me. I'll fix you up."

I ship it out (Sprung for overnight, just cause it's my primary transportation, Love you Honey, but getting a ride in the morning sucks.) and 3 or so days later it's on the way back. BTW, spring for the high temp stainless core wrap stuff. Sounds great, supposed to last forever (We shall see, cause I'm not getting rid of the Evil Twin anytime soon!) and for some reason it runs like a scalded monkey (I mean that in a good way...) If you ever have any problems with it, Kevin says just ship it back, and he'll handle it. Truth be known, I was expecting to pay the labor, any parts, etc., and would have done so gladly as I'm pretty sure I had at least something to do with it. Maybe. <grin> Once again, this was the second one of these in the universe, and they are hand crafted, one at a time. From what I can tell, the issue I had is pretty damned rare, and possibly unique. Did I mention that these things are tough?

I think Kevin may have sprinkled some of that North Carolina pixie dust on it, or it could be that I went a bit more than a week bikeless, but it feels awesome now. My SOTP dyno says it making more on the bottom end, but no data to support. All I know is I am one happy SOB.

Thanks for the support, Kevin. You are a master at your craft, a wonderful businessman, a true enthusiast that has supported the Buell community for many years, and just generally one Hell of a guy.

Thanks again, and keep doin' what you're doin'.

For any of you considering the Drummer, do it. You will NOT be disappointed.

Thanks for the stories Rob, you are part of my reasons for being a Drummer owner.

I know I love mine. <grin>

Rob or Z either one of you guys running a tune or just stock with the Drummer? Was leaning towards the Drummer myself but don't have the ECM yet.

You can run the stock ECM with the Drummer with no issues, but if you want to have a more enjoyable time. Get the Erik Buell Racing Race ECM and watch your grin get wider. I too have a Drummer on my 1125R and ran it with the stock ECM for a time. Then I got the Erik Buell Racing ECM and talk about a step up.

Drummer ran like a champ with the stocker. Went from 119.something to 128.something with no other mods.

I added the tune from that guy in Ohio... and picked up about another 10.

The dyno is not the whole story tho. The driveability is the thing.

Damn these things are fun to ride.

Edit- I REEEEEaaaaallllyyyy want one of Racing ECM's tuned for the Drummer. It runs good now, but I just wonder...
