Ok so I haven't been here much lately.

I tried the search a got a mess, if someone can point me to a specific thread that fine - but what's the current tire to get on a 1125R that sees mostly street and a little track time? I would just keep shoeing the Diablos on it - do they still make them?

angel st's if either no track time. i dont think theyd do well on the track. they do fine with my fatness on the street running pretty hard down to a maybe .25" chicken strip...great wear too have got nearly 5k on the rear and still looks pretty thick in the center.

I came up on the same issues. I choose the diablo corsa 3 because it's a great tire. It's what I'm use to so I won't have to learn a new tire just yet and they won't be here for much longer so you might as well get them while you can. So I'm looking to build a larger personal knowledge of familiarity so that I can really be educated when it's time to replace them.

I just did a fair amount of research for my replacement.

Diablo Corsa Rosso replaces the III and is supposed to be quite a bit better

I just got one of those, but also ordered a pair of Dunlop SPs, which were arguably a little better

Sprinst, You've compared the Rosso and the SPs?

I liked Dunlops in years past but stuck with the Corsas cause I got good mileage and they handled real well on the track.

I've only ridden the Rosso Corso. So far, I like.

The Dunlops seemed to hold a arguable lead in some of the reviews, but not a lot. The pricing was better, until I found a great deal on the Rosso Corso.

Like I said, I've got a set of Dunlop SP's showing up tomorrow, so they'll be the next ones mounted after I finish up the new Rosso Corso rear and the Diablo III front.


Motorcycleusa.com has a nice 2010 tire comparo, though the Rosso Corso wasn't out, so it's got a separate review.

Pure powers are great way better grip than the stock p's

I get 6k hard mountain/trak mile front and rear wear equal

I have a set of Pilot Power 2CT in the garage awaiting next change. Have heard good things about them. I have over 6500 miles on the Corsa 3 but wanted to try something different.

I've read nothing but good things about the 2CTs. Probably what I will spoon on when the OEM Corsa IIIs are ready to come off. That being said, I have no complaints with the Corsa IIIs though. You can get the 2CTs really cheap right now cause I thing they will soon be replaced with 3CTs (?).

I like the Pilot 2CT's better thAn the Pilot Pure's.

If you have rain grooves ground into the road surface of the freeways you drive, the new Pures will hunt or skip around, making the bike kinda jittery. And it gets worse if you drive in the rain, then they really get jittery.

I've gone back to the Pilot Power or the 2CT's.
The traction isn't that much different, on the street anyway. Actually, in the wet, the 2CT's are a little better thAn the Pure's in my driving two sets of them (two Buells).

I've got at least 1500 on Power Pure's. The wear seems similar to the stock Pirelli's which were squared off before 4000 miles. They are lighter and the profile of the front is taller resulting in slightly but noticeably lighter steering. They also feel a bit more unstable as in more prone to tank slap. I like them, but not so much that I won't experiment with either Dunlops or Diablo Rosso's next.

I've tried the following:

Corsa III's (three times already).
Rossos's (multiple times on Firebolt and once on 1125R).
Battleaxe BT-016's (multiple times on Firebolt)

Of these tires, the Rosso's last the longest. These tires are designed to have a really long lasting center compound so you can ride a lot of freeway and commuting miles without wearing the tires too much. Even then, they stick very well.

The Corsa III's wear the fastest. But they stick even better than the Rosso's. There is a noticeable difference in cornering confidence between these two Pirelli tires.

BT016's wear somewhere between the CIII's and Rossos, but they stick like the CIII's. It gives me the same confidence as the CIII's in the corners without the fast wear.

For my use, I prefer the BT016's all the way. However, if I were going to do a lot of highway miles, the Rosso's would be my choice. It's really almost like an ST Tire.

All of them suit the 1125R (and the XB12R's) very well. None of them stand up under braking, they don't cause the bike to flop into corners, and maintain their grip near the very end of their lives.

Now I see there is a Rosso and a Rosso Corsa?

And have tire prices gone up or is it just me? $375 for a set installed?

Corsa III, Rosso, Rosso, Corsa, Pilot Pure, all seem to be w/in 10% of each other.

I like the Michelin 2CT, seems to grip better and wear better than the OEM Pirellis.

I just purchased a set of Metzeler Sportec M5 Interact. I don't have many miles on them yet but the handling is amazing. I may be looking into a steering damper because of the movement they allow at higher speeds of the front tire.

The handlebar is steady. But I am able to turn the handlebar at 70 mph which I wasn't before.

My 2 cents .. I really like the Dunlop Q2 . Always seem to be on sale somewhere, last about 4K miles of good riding, and I like the profile better than the III or bt16 . Turn in just feels better.

Have a set of the Power Pures on now, and I am probably going back to the 2CT's next. I like the really peaked profile of the 2CT's. I dig the Pures, but I guess I haven't really figured them out yet. They seem to be more sensitive to pressure than some. If I air them up too much (Like almost to max) they feel a little odd. Just need to get them figured out, and might be love all over again.

All of these are, as is the bike, better equipment than I am rider. Varying degrees of overkill!

Overkill with me too, but I like the 2CT combo on my Duc, nowt wrong with them on road or track.
I currently have Dunlop Sportmax on my 1125, which doesn't go on the track (or the road at the moment and they suit the bike really well. These often see track type speed in the Welsh mountains. In 6k miles they're my 3rd set of tyres, and out of them all, they're wearing much better than anything else.

After just one week with the 2CT I am impressed. The Pirellis were good tires, but I like the feel of the 2CT much better. I got complete set delivered from comp accessories for $240.
