Got it all bolted up, test ride tomorow to see if eveything works. Lowered the bike so much that when I took it off the rear stand the side stand tipped the bike over. Fortunately I was able to throw myself under the bike and save it. Went for the front brake to keep it from rolling...then realized I don't have front brakes. Anyway, need to see if the chain rubs or what else bad can happen. The bike looks pretty bizsare. Paul |

Paul, excellent. How does it run with new cams? James came through surgery nicely and looks to be healing rapidly,so I may not have to babysit.I have Buell all ready to go,30 tooth front on, and almost all packed,so keeping my fingers crossed,I will see you on the salt.Tentative plans call for leave weds morn and try to make tech late afteroon. If not, tech thursday early and head for the long course.Take some runs on the MPS F record and back up next morning. Then home friday for work sat. Kinda like your plan, take bike ,get trophy,go home. |

Jim, didn't do cams, just chassis changes. I thought tech was on the 14th? Am I missing something? I thought the dates were from 15-18th with tech on the 14th. Paul |

So whats the weather doing in Utah? Who's got a link, looks like it might be raining. We got a half inch or so out of the system thats over Utah now. I'm leaving here at midnight or one am. Hope its still a go. I got a short test ride, everything worked but the bike is so low I dragged the lower fairing getting off the garage slab. It would high center on a golf ball.

Just got in at the Wilson ranch a little while ago. Was hoping to send a day in the canyons on the X1 but it looks like I'll be getting the engine oil out of my primary instead. Damn blown seal, what is it? A 2 or 3 hour job. Gotta do it at the Nallin shop, Aaron has his tools packed up already. Leave for Wendover on Tuesady. |

What's the word on salt conditions, the Suz Busa board says there is standing water on lot of the salt and the course was moved south... clumpy ?? |

I was locked and loaded, ready to go,but familial duties kept me home.(James is still on the mend from surgery).Shucks, hope all goes well for racers. Read on SCTA site that the course area from before was flooded and there was about 1-2 mile puddle at entrance before getting to new course. Also only one course set up for long/short due to room/and lack of equipment.Seems SCTA lost a bunch of wire, etc in a fire and had to borrow from USFRA.Hope its not like last year. |

FMJ, what can you tell us about Snail and his record attempt? he's in impound, and i'm assuming it's not because of that potty mouth of his, right? FB |

You can keep up with it all here. It looks like the RRS2 has only put one run down so far. |

Just got home, tired, had a fantastic time though. It was like old times, Susan and I racing together again and crewing for each other. It was really great to watch her skills and confidence growing as the week progressed. She made multiple passes over 160mph! Let me tell you what, that's really something on that little S1, the wind is trying to rip you right off the bike. We overcame a problem or two and tuned the bike and by the end of the event, she was into the rev limiter in 5th. But actually going a touch slower. Wheelspin through the roof, the course was degrading. She's just too light. I got on the bike for one pass, didn't have a wheelspin problem but I couldn't get it to pull over 6500rpm (150mph or so). As I have been hoping all along, her small size is a big advantage. Anyway, she showed she can do it, she's my new rider . Ultimately we may try to get her into the two club. But first thing's first, this class we're working on has a very tough record so we're gonna go for it. The motor development is certainly there, I've got the rider, just gotta get the chassis to where it can get the power down. Saw Sam Wheeler make a 326 pass with the EZ Hook streamliner. We had to pack up and leave, wonder if he took it to impound and did the backup. G'night. |

I'm home too. What a great time. Don't know whether to get some sleep, or start washing aalt off. It might rain...I'll sleep and let the rain work. Thanks again, Aaron, for all the encouragment to come out and give it a shot. I really enjoyed myself. Paul |

Aaron/Susan and Paul, Glad you all enjoyed yourselves. Oh and Paul, well done Sir! I made a house for the cats to sleep in..... (Gotta get rid of all these stupid jobs first before I can get my bike to a dyno......) 326 huh? I knew they'd done a 310 earlier, but I hadn't seen that one posted yet. Goodbye to the Easyriders record maybe? And in a 1350 class no less. That's cool. |

"She's just too light" I can solve that problem for ya mate LOL. That's really something riding an S1 at those kinda speeds when you're as small as Susan. I'm smiling for you both. Nice one!!! Thanks for the pistons too, got 'em Friday Paul I'd wash the salt off before that Suzuki dissolves. Good on ya Old Fella!!! Rocket |

Thanks guys, it was fun. I'll be building a more potent engine for next year. Like to be the first to break 200 mph on a 1000 CC gas bike. I 'think' the wheel spin issue can be mangaged with ballast. Start saving your pounds, guiders, and dollars for next year, it will be the biggest Team Elves gathering yet. The movement is growing... 'Nother thing, I kept the tradition alive and was the first entrant to run the course at the World Finals. Paul |
