Sorry for all the threads guys, but I am new to the world of Buell and very much appreciative of your help! I have a 2004 XB12s Lightning and as Littlebuggles has been extremely helpful, he mentioned adjusting my suspension. The guy I purchased the bike from had the bike set up for his frame, 5'11" 160lbs and I am 6'3" 225lbs so I need to make the adjustments. He gave me a Firebolt Service Book. Couple Questions: Is there a book specifically for each Firebolt & Lightning model? And if so, are the suspension adjustments the same for both, or will they be completely independent of each other? Trying to figure out if I need to trash that book and purchase the Lightning book?? thanks guys! Richard | ||

Both the standard Lightning and the Firebolt of the same year share the same suspension. The suspension guides are slightly different for both bikes though, with the Firebolt settings being more aggressive. The book settings are only a guide though, once you set the bike up per the book, you should make observations while you ride and tweak it to your tastes.  | ||

Links to the owners manuals at the top of the XB section are no longer valid. I can share my books recommended settings, but it's for a 07, not sure of the suspension variance from 04 to 07. | ||

thanks both! Considering I have the wrong book, does anyone have the specs for Front and Rear suspension from the 2004 Lightning manual for 225lb rider? I'll need to track down the right book. Thanks in advance! | ||

Front Preload lines 3.5 compression clockwise till it stops 1.25 out rebound 1 turn same rule Rear preload position 7 comp. 1.5 rebound .75same rules apply clockwise till stop counter out specified turns this is for a 230-250 pound rider page 78 manual hope this helps | ||
