My questions are...
What is your thoughts?
is the tone deep?
is is rattly?
The you tube videos suck so its hard to tell. I like volume and deep tone.

Use headphone plugged into your laptop/mac/ or PC and the sound is much better, get an idea of actual tone that way.

I had one on my CR for a short period. I really liked the look of it and it did have a nice, deep sound IMO, but way too loud for me, so I sold it and went back to stock. If you don't mind loud, I am sure you will like it.

Yeah it is a bit loud. But to be honest, I've not had one complaint. And being in the Army, She get's fired up at 5am quite often and brought home late. No complaints from the neighbors. No complaints from the cops. Of course I'm not rapping the throttle coming thru the neighborhood either. Just about the only thing I really don't like about it is their is quite a roar on initial start up, but quiets down soon.

The sound is great, though a bit loud. So far, I haven't had any complaints. The cops go right on eating their donuts when I ride past them.
I do like how it pops when I first hit the starter button.
As with anything aftermarket, it may or may not be a good fit. Otherwise, no problems.

The HMF is definitely deep and rumbly. Only 1 complaint from a pain in the ass new neighbour (moved in after I had the pipe on).

Cops don't bat an eye.

Installation is a bit more work than other after market systems - you will not get the mid pipe to fit without loosening the front header bolts, putting the mid on and retightening the bolts.

Pretty much what everyone else says.

But just for reference, I took mine off and put a Barker on....
At idle, it's similar, but as the rpm comes up, it sounds much nicer, if not a "little" quieter.

But...it does takes a different set of fuel maps.

Overall, I like the Barker better.
1. Sound
2. Build quality
3. Build design
And last but definitely not least....
4. Power

You know what Tone and Volume is what I want most. I think the RT3 would be that. I dont wanna: Piss my friends off because its so loud, cant hear and communicate with friends or gf on the back. However I dont want to waist the 500 or so bucks and buy something that I want to return or it sounds like crap. Im worried the HMF would be raspy, to low pitched and not produce the volume I desire. I do not want it to sound like a HD cruiser but I do want loud and deep for tone. Also I know its reccomeded to buy the ecm but could i buy the pipe and put it on then buy the ecm? Opinins?

BuellDr ---> The HMF is definitely *NOT* raspy (that would be the Jardine). It is a deep rumble.
Communicating with other riders at stop lights is a bit difficult unless you lean in and raise your voice. Voice communication with a passenger is almost impossible while riding - they can get through to you with a bit of difficulty, but getting back is like I said, almost impossible.

Download the American Sport Bike shootout sound files and compare.
I think the HMF sounds closest to the CES on the fly-by recordings. My opinion only, others would think it sounds like a different pipe I'm sure.

As for tone, I've had several people in cars give me the thumbs up for the sound and ask me to rev the bike a bit for them.

I'm sure you could do the ECM after the pipe. Whenever I get any warranty work done on my bike I swap out the E-B-R ECM for the stock one. It's a 65 mile trip each way. Not exactly sure if the stock ECM would start throwing codes after extended usage or not though.

There you go. Stick with the stock pipe and everyone will stay happy. Your gf will NOT be able to easily hear you with an aftermarket pipe, definitely not one of mine as it would be entirely too loud to carry on a conversation with her within 10' of the bike when it's running.

Pretty much the scenario for all the slip ons. Really loud. I just get my talking done before I start the bike.

The HMF is not raspy. It has a nice deep sound to it, but again, it is loud. From my experience with it on, conversations near or on the bike are difficult at best.

As for the American Sport Bike shootout, the HMF was not tested, so that won't help you evaluate how it stacks up in sound or performance with the others.

In my opinion, you need to determine what you want more, more exhaust volume, or the ability to communicate (particularly with your gf). I don't think you will get both.

I like the Barker better. Better fit to the bike, better tone, options for quiet cores. I thought the HMF was nasty sounding above about 4K RPM.
